JACKIE ALLEN YARBER - Age 28, of Birch Tree, Missouri departed this life on October 8, 2011 in West Plains, Missouri. He was born on October 17, 1982 in Wray, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Elsie Renegar and Wade and Minnie Yarber. Survivors include his parents, Jack and Vera Yarber of Birch Tree; aunts and uncles, Max Yarber, Evelyn Herter, Patsy Lakey and husband, Boyd, Alvena Yarber and husband, Sonny, and Margaret Sansouci; and many cousins. Jackie was converted at an early age at Gravel Ridge Church and baptized in the Jacks Fork River. He was involved with “Campers on Mission”, a service group for church camps. Jackie served in the National Guard for two years. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved working on the farm and using large equipment. Jackie never met a stranger and had many friends. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
JAMES EUGENE 'SONNY' YARBER - Age 75, of Birch Tree, Missouri departed this life on January 30, 2013 at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, Missouri. He was born May 19, 1937 in Mountain View, Missouri, the son of Howard and Rose Marie (Hansford) Yarber. Sonny was united in marriage to Alvena Renegar on May 7, 1955 in Mountain View, Missouri. To this union, one son was born, Danny. Preceding him in death were his parents; father and mother-in-law, Claude and Elsie Renegar; one brother, Jerry Yarber; and one sister, Betty Langley. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Alvena, of the home; son, Danny Yarber and wife, Jody, of Birch Tree; two brothers, Charles Edward Yarber and wife, Ann, of Birch Tree and Norman Dean Yarber and wife, Etta, of Mountain View; two sisters, Joyce Hull and husband, David, of Dawson Springs, KY and Barbara Koger and husband, Darrell, of Novinger, MO; one brother-in-law, Harley Langley of Dawson Springs, KY; two granddaughters, Amanda Reed and husband, Chris, and Beth Dodge and husband, John; four great grandchildren, Landon Faulkner, Wyatt Dodge, Christian Reed, and Cassie Reed; and several nieces and nephews. Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising bird dogs. He was an avid turkey hunter. He was a dedicated farmer for many years. Sonny loved spending the day on his tractor on the farm. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Gary Jason ‘Chipper’ Yardley - Born Sept. 18, 1977, at Mountain View, Mo., the son of Gary D. Yardley and Rebecca Winters Yardley. He passed away Sept. 29, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 33 years. Chipper was united in marriage to Heather Dawn Redman on May 18, 2009, at Eminence, Mo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Bessie Winters and Bob and Mabel Yardley; uncles, Elza Yardley and Richard Yardley; aunt, Yvonne Cricket Yardley; and brother-in-law, Ryan Bland. He is survived by his wife Heather Yardley of Winona, Mo.; daughter Kristen Yardley of Winona, Mo.; sons, Tyler Redman, Cory Mauldin and Eli Mauldin all of Winona, Mo.; parents Gary and Rebecca Yardley of Winona, Mo.; brothers, Audey Yardley of Winona, Mo., and Adam Yardley and wife Lela of Ellington, Mo.; sisters Shawna Kaut and husband Eric of Mountain View, Mo., and Jonie Smith and brother-in-law Clinton Barnes of Winona, Mo.; nephews Gage Yardley of Winona and Payton Yardley of Ellington, Mo; nieces Ashley Vermillion and Brooke Vermillion of Ellington, Mo.; Shelby Bland, Haley Bland and Mackenzie Bland of Mountain View, Mo. and Olivia Barnes, Kendra Barnes and Andi Smith of Winona, Mo.; and numerous other family and friends. Chipper enjoyed going hunting. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to ball games and hunting with his kids. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at the House of Prayer in Winona, Mo., with Bro. Gary Larson and Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Interment was in Pine Lawn Cemetery at Winona, Mo., under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes.
Tunney L. Yardley - Born April
22, 1929, at Winona, Mo., the son of Robert Yardley and Naomi (Conneley)
Yardley. He passed away Feb. 23, 2011, in Cuba Manor at Cuba, Mo., at the age of
81 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Naomi Yardley;
three sisters; two brothers and one adopted daughter, Sandy Yardley. Tunney was
united in marriage to Mettis Louise Douglas on April 26, 1951, in Salem, Ark. He
is survived by his wife Louise Yardley of Cuba, Mo.; two daughters, Jane Cook of
Jonesburg, Mo., and Dawna Yardley of Cuba, Mo.; and a host of other family and
friends. Tunney enjoyed fishing, working with wood and doing yard work. Most of
all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed
by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services were held Friday, Feb. 25,
2011, at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Mountain View, Mo., with Lloyd and Janet
Jackson officiating under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes.
Vada Imogene 'Imo' Washburn Yardley Bauman - Daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Garrett) Washburn was born September 13, 1909 in Winona, Missouri and departed this life December 29, 2008 in Mountain View, Missouri. She had attained the age of ninety-nine years, three months and sixteen days. She was known as 'Imo' by all her family and friends and lived most of her life in the Fremont, Missouri area. During World War II she worked in St. Louis making airplane parts and after returning to this area she took a job with the United States Forest Service. Imo was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Winona, Mo. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and quilting. On October 6, 1928 she was united in marriage to Ezra 'Cranston' Yardley in Van Buren, MO. To this union three children were born. Mr. Yardley preceded her in death on November 8, 1982. She was also preceded in death by one son, Dorris 'Dump' Yardley; four brothers, Omer, Earl, Vernon and Cecil Washburn; four sisters, Diamond, Gladys, Juanita and Geneva; one grandson, Tim Yardley and one son-in-law, Ray Jones. She later married Frank Bauman. He also preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Gene Yardley and his wife Martha, of Tulsa, Ok.; one daughter, Geraldine Jones of Mountain View; one brother, Bill Washburn of Central City, KY; and one sister, Loneatta Neal of Roseburg, OR; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; step children, Frances Bauman of St. Marys, Sister Mary Luke of St. Louis, Margaret Ritter of Perryville, Hilda Kranzle and Stella Meuller both of St. Genevieve and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. DESSIE CLARA SHOMAKER YATES - Born January 29, 1940 to Ted Shomaker and Rachel Yardley at their home in Winona, MO. She went to be with the Lord and Savior on September 18, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Dessie was united in marriage to Marvin Howard Yates on May 23, 1956. Two children, Frances Helen and Teddy Ray were born to this union. Dessie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Howard Yates; her parents Ted and Rachel Shomaker; in-laws Marvin and Dolly Yates; and three siblings Helen (Shomaker) Norton, Albert Shomaker and Cecil Shomaker. Dessie is survived by one daughter, Frances Akers and husband C.L. of Winona, MO; one son Teddy Yates and Lisa of Winona, MO; one sister Betty Norris of Winona, MO; one granddaughter Melissa Altermatt and husband Bill of Mountain View, MO; one grandson Jason Yates of Winona, MO; three great grandchildren, Brady Altermatt, Blayne Altermatt and Bryn Altermatt; and a host of other family and friends. Aside from her role as an adoring wife, mother, and grandmother, Dessie worked at Paramount Apparel, Inc. from a young age through retirement. Her work family consisted of many lifelong friends whom she cherished. She also cared deeply for her church family, with whom she loved to spend time. Dessie valued her family and treasured any chance to spend time with those she loved. She was the heart of her family and was happiest when her loved ones gathered in her home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing. She also liked to ride four-wheelers with her grandchildren. Dessie was dearly loved by so many and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Birch Tree, Missouri.
MARVIN HOWARD YATES - Born October 21, 1914 at Low Wassie, MO and departed this life June 27, 1996 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO at the age of 81 years and eight months. He was the son of Martin and Mary Jane (Denning) Yates. He is survived by wife Dolly of the home; one son, Howard Yates of Winona, MO; one daughter, Nannette Massey of Birch Tree, MO; one daughter-in-law, Dessie; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Freddy Yates; one brother, Fred Yates; an infant sister and one half-brother, Glen Yates. Marvin was united in marriage to Dolly Clemons on November 24, 1934 at Low Wassie, MO. He was a much loved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His "kids and grandkids" were his life. Marvin was also known for his love of the "river and fishing" and spent many hours passing on stories of those days to his grandchildren. Marvin was a member of the First Baptist Church, Birch Tree, MO. Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, June 29, 1996 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree, with Rev. Truman Pulliam officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home in Birch Tree.
Roger Dale Yates - Born Sept. 12, 1958, in Springfield, Mo., the son of Freddy Yates and Betty Jean (Harper) Yates-Volosin. He passed away Thursday June 4, 2009 in Springfield, MO at the age of 50 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Freddy Yates, and two sisters, Vikki Zinns and Twyla Yates. He is survived by his three sons James DeBroeck of Jefferson City, Mo.; Michael Yates of Mountain View, Mo., and Bradley Yates of Mountain View, Mo.; four daughters, Melody Russell and husband Jason of Mountain View, Mo., Jessica Yates of Mountain View, Mo., Sarah Yates of Mountain View, Mo., and Ashley Yates of Mountain View, Mo.; two granddaughters, Maci Russell of Mountain View, Mo., and Maybeline Clemens of Mountain View, Mo.; one brother, Johnny Volosin of Rolla, Mo.; two sisters, Robin Harrisson of Union Point, Ga., and Christy Volosin of Matoon, Ill.; and a host of other family and friends. Roger grew up in a military family, and lived in many areas of the country before graduating from high school in Kellogg, Idaho. He lived in Denver, Colo., for several years working as a data entry tech. He also worked briefly as a children's photographer and later at a greenhouse, both which he loved. He moved back to Rolla, Mo., and lived there for several years before relocating to Mountain View, Mo., in 1989. Roger worked at the boat factory in Mountain View for several years before it closed its doors. He was later employed at Sequel in Willow Springs. Roger enjoyed woodworking, making shelves, and bird houses among other things. He enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. In his younger years, he couldn't get enough of the slopes in Idaho; he shared many memories of skiing in Kellogg. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time at the river, particularly snorkeling. He loved music, music, music and more music. Although Roger himself didn't play music, all of his children are gifted with the ability to play music and sing. Roger loved to listen to his children and their friends when they would get together and play music. Roger will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Mountain View with Pastor Brian Ingalls officiating. Eloise Jennings Young - Age 79, passed away peacefully on Aug. 31, 2009, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo. She was born July 27, 1930, in Pumpkin Center, Miss., to Labon and Ludie Jennings. Eloise leaves behind her husband Jerry L. Young Jr; four children Linda Potter, Amelia Moncure, Lee Young and Connie Warren; one brother Howard Jennings of Vicksburg, Miss.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as extended family. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Dot Tackett. Eloise was a loving wife and mother, an avid gardener and an award winning quilter. Her quilts were featured in numerous quilt shows, newspaper articles and exhibitions. She carefully hand quilted each and every masterpiece, generously given to friends and family. Graveside services were held on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, with Rev. Sam Upton officiating in Munsell Cemetery at Eminence, Mo., under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
Jerry Lee Young, Jr. - Age 81 of Eminence, MO, passed away peacefully in his home on November 8, 2011. He was born January 15, 1930 in Morgan City, MS to Jerry Lee and Alma (McClellan) Young. He was preceded in death by his parents; and loving wife of 60 years, Eloise Young. Jerry leaves behind four children Linda Potter, Amelia Moncure, Lee Young and Connie Warren; one sister Betty Porter Deskins; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. Jerry was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the military after serving 33 years. He retired as terminal manager from Roadway Express in Greenville, MS prior to moving to Eminence, MO. Jerry enjoyed traveling, photography, reading and studying the Bible. Jerry will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Munsell Chapel Church in Eminence, MO with Rev. Van Williams officiating. Interment was in Munsell Chapel Cemetery in Eminence, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes.

Arthur Edward Younger, better known as “Bud” was born October 12, 1930 at Alley Springs, MO. With family by his side, he was celebrated home on April 10, 2013 at the family farm at Alley Springs, MO. Bud was preceded in death by his parents Rebecca Jane & Walter Isaac Younger. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alta Younger of the home; 2 sons Charles and wife Debbie of Salem, MO and Carl and wife Cammie of Alley Springs, MO; 3 sisters, Hazel Kerr of Salem, MO, Maxine Conner of Mountain View, MO and Eunice Myers and husband Dick of Vallejo, CA; 1 brother Elvie Younger and wife Judy of Eminence, MO; 4 grandchildren Darrian and wife Sarah of Raymore, MO, Daphne and husband Bobby of Salem, MO, Casey and husband David of Summersville, MO, Cole and wife Kelly of Birch Tree, MO; 9 great grandchildren Carter, Landon, Jordan, Brent, Delaney, Talon, Mackinley, Hadley and Weston; a mess of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family from righter her close to over yonder. Bud went to school at Alley Springs through the 3rd grade. He left school at that time to help his family make ends meet around the farm. As he got older he began to work in the log woods. On August 20, 1955 Bud married the love of his life, Alta Medley. Together they spent a summer in Gould, CO cutting timber. In 1960, he began to work as a machinist for Angelica Uniform Factory working on sewing machines until the factory closed in the mid 80’s. He then worked as a mechanic at Bay Creek Manufacturing. Bud was best known for his work in the Church. He served as Pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy for 35 years. He served several different churches including Mountain View, Summersville, Flatwoods and retiring from the Eminence Church of God of Prophecy in 2002. Being a pastor and part of the church were his life. He was a devoted Christian and a great example of what a Christ like man should be. In 2011, Bud, along with his wife, were able to move “Back Home” to Alley Springs where he was raised. He was able to enjoy life; his family, his garden, the chickens, guineas, peacocks and the crazy goose. After a long stay in the hospital he was able to return home to the farm on March 27, 2013. His first full sentence was “I want you’ns to know, it sure feels good to be home!” Bud has left a lasting impression and has set the bar high for those of us following in his footsteps. He is going to be missed but will be waiting for us with open arms on the other side. He would want to encourage you to give your heart to the Lord and “be ready”.

Nancy Faye Young was born on October 30, 1940 in Mountain View, Missouri, the daughter of Roy Edwin Webb and Mildred Evelyn (Lee) Webb. She passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the family home in Mountain View, MO at the age of 70 years. She was united in marriage to George Robert ‘Bob’ Young on June 5, 1956 in Mountain View, MO, and to this union five children were born. Nancy devoted her life to God and shared His love with everyone she came in contact with. She was passionate about spending time with family, especially the ‘grands’ and ‘great-grands’. She loved music, played many instruments and shared her gift of music with everyone. Nancy worked for many years at St. Francis Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse with her speciality in Labor and Delivery. After retiring, she loved spending her time caring for children and volunteering in many capacities, most recently with St. Francis Auxiliary. She also enjoyed family reunions, story time at the Mountain View Public Library, Awana, cooking, Sudoku, gardening, sewing, being outside and making scrapbooks for her family. She was a faithful member of Gracestone Community of Christ Church in Willow Springs and was also active at First Baptist Church in Mountain View. Snickers, her miniature poodle, was her constant companion after losing the love of her life, Bob, in 2008. Nancy had the special gift of seeing the positive in everyone and in every situation. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Webb and Mildred Lee, and husband, Bob Young. Eldora Belle (Snider) Xanthis was born September 23, 1931 at Riverside, CA the daughter of Robert Snider and Gertrude (Wagner) Snider. She passed away, October 12, 2015 at Birch Tree, MO at the age of 84 years, She was united in marriage to Theodore Anthony Xanthis in Yuma, AZ and to this union one daughter was born. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Gertrude Snider; one brother Robert Snider, and two sisters Marjorie (Snider) Mapes and Muriel (Snider) Cordier. She is survived by one daughter Sylvia Hathaway and husband Robert of Winona, MO; two brothers Carl Snider of Santa Rosa, CA and Ralph Snider and wife Mary of Riverside, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Eldora received her Associate Degree from Riverside City College. She worked as a data entry clerk for Bourns Inc. in Riverside California for many years. Eldora lived in Louisiana for several years prior to moving to Birch Tree, MO in 2009 to be close to her daughter Sylvia. Eldora enjoyed listening to bluegrass and folk music, reading, working on crossword puzzles, and researching genealogy and history. She was shy and quiet, but had a good sense of humor and was a devoted mother. She was an intelligent woman who qualified to join MENSA, but chose not to join the association. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and those animals found a true friend with her. Memorial services will be planned at a later date. |
