Howard Lee Taber was born on September 17, 1941 to Lee and Ethel (Roark) Taber at Pine Crest, Missouri. He departed this life on November 10, 2011 at his home in Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 70 years. He was united in marriage to L. Jeanne Davis on February 16, 1962. To this union, three children were born; Janet Lea, Marsha Kaye, and Jason Howard. Howard graduated from Summersville High School in 1959, and then attended Draughon Business College. Howard worked several different jobs, but his favorite was driving a truck for many years. He made numerous friends while crossing the country talking on the CB, where he was known as “Texas Pete”. He loved his horses and a hard day’s work. In later years, he enjoyed teasing others and spending time with his coffee shop buddies. Preceding him in death were his parents and mother-in-law, Eunice Davis. Howard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanne (Davis) Taber of the family home; daughters, Janet Atkinson and husband, James, Norman, OK and Marsha Webb and husband, Joe, Mountain View; son, Jason H. Taber and wife, Stefani, Birch Tree, MO; father-in-law, Veral “Buster” Davis; one brother, Ed “Dwaine” Taber; two sisters, Helen Givler and Glenda Hawkins; seven grandchildren and 7 ½ great grandchildren. Howard will be remembered most for his work ethic and generosity.
Shirley Joanne Walsworth Taber - Born December 29, 1936 at Denver, CO to Joseph Coty Walsworth and Ida Muriel (Shirley) Walsworth. She went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2010 after a short battle with cancer at Mountain View, MO at the age of 73 years. She was married to Alby Taber on August 21, 1955 in Puyallup, WA, and to this union seven children were born: Linda, James, Gloria, Joe, Sue, Cindy and Cathy. Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Ida Walsworth; infant children, James Lee and Cathy Darlene; one infant granddaughter, Amber Michelle; one brother, Glen Elwyn Walsworth; two brothers-in-law, Cal Uticall and Bob Hinshaw; several nieces and nephews. Shirley is survived by her children, Linda Farrar and husband, Bill, of Mountain View, MO; Gloria Taber and family of Pacific, WA; Joe Taber and wife, Linda, and family of Winona, MO; Sue Wallander and husband, David, of Mountain View, MO; Cindy and family of Mountain View, MO; three sisters, Donna DeBock and husband, Ron, of Puyallup, WA; Wilma Hinshaw of Puyallup, WA; and Carol Meisner and husband, Fritz, of Puyallup, WA; brother-in-law, Bob Taber and wife, Crystal, of Mountain View, MO; two sisters-in-law, Louise Walsworth of Puyallup, WA, and Grace Koonce of Birch Tree, MO; five grandchildren, Andy, Kimberly, Candice, Cassie and Shellie; many family and friends. She was a volunteer for several years around the area. Shirley played her harmonica for several years at the Nursing Home every Friday. She enjoyed singing at the churches she attended, where she formed many friendships. She was a member of Ozark Sassy Lassies, Red Hatters, where she was known as 'Lady of the Gospel Harp'. She will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends. We know she’s playing her harmonica in Heaven. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Mountain View, MO with Pastor Mark Turnbough officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Mountain View, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes.
SARAH JANE BETTIS TACKITT - Age 22, Gepp, Arkansas - Born March 20, 1984 in Mountain View, MO to Roy Gene and Kathy Counts Bettis. Died at 1:25 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2006 in St. John's Medical Center, Springfield, MO. On June 30, 2001, she was married at Eminence, MO to B. J. Tackitt. Mrs. Tackitt was employed with Marathon Electric and enjoyed the river, camping, fishing, and swimming. She is survived by her husband, B. J. Tackitt, of the family home; her parents, Roy and Kathy Bettis, Winona, MO; two brothers, Brad Bettis and wife, Amanda, Caulfield, MO and Jason Bettis and wife, Amanda, of Summersville, MO; one sister, Deborah Bettis, Winona, MO; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Emma Tackitt, Gepp, Arkansas; her brothers-in-law, Garry Tackitt, Gepp, Arkansas; Ronnie Tackitt, Caulfield, MO; Kenny Tackitt, Alton, MO; her sisters-in-law, Anita Rieger, Dora, MO and Linda Vaughan, Cabool, MO; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces and nephews. Her maternal grandparents, George and Margaret Birlew Bettis; her paternal grandparents, Charlie and Jannie Chronister Counts; and her brother-in-law, Larry Tackitt, precede her in death. Visitation was from 6 - 8 p.m., Monday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2006 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO. Burial was in Hurst Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or to a charity of choice and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Linda Maureen Toombs Patton Talbert of St. Charles, MO passed away at SSM DePaul Health Center, Bridgeton, Missouri on Aug 2, 2012 at 7:28AM at the age of 61. Linda is predeceased by her father, Robert B Toombs and her mother, Geraldine (Zinn) Toombs both of Winona, MO. Linda is survived by her loving husband of six years, Ray Talbert. Linda and Ray were married at First Baptist Church of Harvester, St.Charles, MO on March 11, 2006. She worked several jobs, including at Amoco Gas Station on Zumbehl Rd St. Charles, MO, where she made many friends and touched many people’s hearts. She carried her great personality over to American Stamp in Maryland Heights, MO and eventually to Label Maker until downsizing led to her decision to retire. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 but she overcame it, and was cancer free for twelve years. In memory of Linda we ask that people make a small donation to the Susan G. Koman Foundation. Linda enjoyed decorating, making beautiful basket arrangements, floral designing, selling Avon and collecting tea pots. She was a loyal member of the National Rifle Association. More than anything, Linda loved people and making new friends and keeping in touch with current friends. The visitation will be held at Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home and Crematory, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St. Charles, MO 63304 on Sunday Aug 5th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday Aug 6th at 11:30 with Dale Allen officiating. Interment to follow at National Cemetery Jefferson Barrack Mo at 1:15 p.m. A reception will take place at First Baptist Church of Harvester on Aug 6th after the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G Koman Foundation.
Deborah Lynn Talley was born May 27, 1961, at St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Burley Talley and Mary Edith (Brown) Talley. She passed away Aug. 19, 2012, at her residence in Winona, Mo., at the age of 51 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burley and Mary Talley; grandparents; and one sister Wanda Weaver. Deborah is survived by one brother, Charles Matthew Talley of Winona, Mo.; two sisters JoAnn Minnich and husband Kenneth of Winona, Mo., and Katie Strickland and husband Jim of Sullivan, Ind.; and a host of other family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, swimming and camping. Deborah loved working on her computer at home. She enjoyed barbecues and spending time with family and friends. Deborah will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes of Winona, Mo.
PHOEBE LOGAN TARNEY - Mrs. Peter Tarney passed away Sunday, March 25, 1945, at her home on Delaware. She had lived in Shannon County for the past 50 years, and was known to most people as 'Aunt Belle.' She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. NOTE: MO Death Cert.#21508: Born Mar. 11th, 1860 in Missouri. Daughter of John Logan. Died at Birch Tree. Informant Porter C. Richardson, Birch Tree. Burial Mar. 25 at Delaware Cemetery. Peter Tarney remarried to a woman named Mary. He is buried at Rader Cemetery.
MATTIE OPAL SEETS TARLTON - Born February 4, 1913 at Harrisburg, IL the daughter of Allen Seets and Minnie (Cummins) Seets. She passed away November 26, 2008 at Birch Tree, MO at the age of 95 years. She was united in marriage to Bratcher Tarlton in 1930 at Harrisburg, IL and to this union six children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Minnie Seets; her husband Bratcher Tarlton; two sons Val Tarlton and Lindle Tarlton; one daughter Syble Clark; two daughters-in-law Beverlay Tarlton and Barbara Tarlton; and one son-in-law B.B. Thackston. She is survived by one son Charles Tarlton and wife Ruth of Gresham, OR; two daughters Cleo Thackston of Winona, MO and Mary 'Lois' Mocklin and husband Richard of Rock Falls, IL; one daughter-in-law Wanda Tarlton of Creve Coeur, IL; 25 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 37 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Opal attended school in the Harrisburg area. After she and Bratcher were married they lived in the Harrisburg, IL area until she moved to Peoria, IL in 1956. Opal worked as a nurse aide at the Peoria Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium for over 20 years before she retired in 1976. She loved music and enjoyed planting flowers and gardening when her health allowed. Opal had lived at Birch Tree Place in Birch Tree, MO for the past few years. She enjoyed the many games and activities and visiting with the other residents. Opal accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She had attended the Herod Springs Baptist Church in Herod, IL, and other Baptist Churches in Peoria, IL. Opal will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services were held Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree with Bro. Charlie Pelate officiating. Interment was in Colbert Cemetery in Herod, IL under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Birch Tree.
CLARA EVELYN STEWART TARTER - Passed away on July 8, 1985 at Brent Tinnin Nursing Home at Ellington, Mo. at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 20 days. She was married to Gilbert Tarter in 1938, who preceded her in death in 1965. To this union, five children were born; one daughter and four sons. Two sons preceded her in death, Bert and Roy Earl. She was also preceded in death by her mother, her father, one sister, and two brothers. She leaves to mourn, one daughter, Ruby Nichols of Eminence; one son-in-law, Adam Nichols of Eminence; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gilbert Raymond Tarter and wife, Linda of Lancaster, California; and Master Sgt. Kenneth Tarter and wife, Donna of Minot, North Dakota; two grandsons, Scott Tartar of Lancaster, Calif.; and Kenny Tarter of Minot, N. Dakota; two granddaughters and two grandsons-in-law, Carl and Cindy Gehrt of Loyal, Wisconsin; and Clifford and Robbie Hunt of Loyal, Wisc.; two great granddaughters, Lena Gehrt and Megan Gehrt of Loyal, Wisc.; one brother, Floyd Stewart and one sister-in-law, Joyce Stewart of Seattle, Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was baptized in 1968. Funeral services were held Friday, July 12 at 3 p.m. in the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Eminence with Rodney Brown officiating. Burial was in Munsell Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral of Eminence.
JOHN LEE TASKER - Born February 14, 1937 at Morgantown, WV, the son of James Alvin Tasker, Sr. and Rosella Ellen Tasker. He passed away January 1, 2009 at West Plains, MO at the age of 71 years. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Baker on December 30, 1959 at Morgantown, WV, and to this union, eight children were born. He later married Virginia Warren on June 10, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosella Tasker; his first wife, Carolyn Tasker; his second wife, Virginia Tasker; one son, Johnny Ray Tasker; and one sister, Violet (Tasker) Martin. He is survived by three sons, Jerry Lee Tasker of Fort Collins, CO, James Lee Tasker of Live Oak, FL, and Johnny Lee Tasker of Washington, DC; one stepson, Ernie Warren and wife, Barb, of Birch Tree, MO; four daughters: Rosella Ellen Rossell and husband, Rusty, of Easley, SC; Robin Lynn Harrison of Weatherford, TX; Rebecca Jane Tasker of Easley, SC; and Maxine Virginia Stark and husband, Gregory "Scott", of Birch Tree, MO; 15 grandchildren, Nichole Tasker, Misty Tasker, Jade Tasker, Jamie Tasker Jr., Lauren Tasker, John Rossell, Randy Rossell, Bryan Rossell, Justin Lutz, Victor Lutz, Britain Tasker, Dakota Stark, Devon Stark, Jessica Stark and Emily Stark; two great-grandchildren; ex-son-in-law, Larry Lutz of West Plains, MO; one brother, Alvin Tasker and wife, Ella, of Willow Springs, MO; and a host of other family and friends. John grew up and attended school in Morgantown, WV. He moved to Baltimore, MD where he worked for RLO Dozer Company. He also owned and operated a landscaping company in Baltimore, MD. John retired in 1990 and moved to the Willow Springs area. He enjoyed planting trees, and he liked to hunt and fish when his health had allowed. He loved watching TV and keeping up with the world events. He greatly enjoyed watching the political debates. John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree, MO with Rev. Otto Foust officiating. Interment was in Berea Mennonite Cemetery in Birch Tree, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Birch Tree, MO.
VIRGINIA MAE WARREN TASKER - Born June 3, 1936, at Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth Brounns and died on Jan. 26, 2005, at Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 68 years. She is survived by her husband John Tasker and her children. Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Berea Mennonite Cemetery at Birch Tree, Mo., with Rev. Bill Apple officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary of Mountain View.
JESSE CLAY TATE - Born December 25, 1984 in Mountain View, Mo., to Robert and Ronda Brooks Tate. He passed away February 21, 2004, in Texas County, Mo. at the age of 19. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Ronda; his sister Ashley, all of Mountain View; paternal grandparents Robert Tate Sr. and Vickie Randolph of Mountain View; maternal grandparents Ken and Gilda Brooks of Mountain View; great-grandmother Bessie Brooks, also of Mountain View. Jesse enjoyed riding horses, coon hunting, riding motorcycles and above all, visiting people he knew and worked for. Jesse never left anywhere without saying good-bye and saying that he loved you. Jesse will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Duncan Funeral Home in Mountain View with Rodney McCann officiating. Erma Flossie Woodworth TAYLOR was born Aug. 25, 1939, on lower Rocky in Winona, Mo., to James A. Woodworth and Mamie (Bland) Woodworth. She departed this life May 1, 2009 She was united in marriage to Thomas Taylor on May 4, 1963. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1999. They had no children, but she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Erma attended and was baptized into the First Baptist Church in Winona, Mo., as a teenager. She graduated from Winona High School in 1957, and moved to St. Louis, Mo., where she worked in the banking industry for several years. She and Tom moved to Florida where she worked for JC Penney for several years before moving back to Birch Tree, Mo., in 1990. Survivors include one sister, Reva Chaney and husband Roy of Birch Tree, Mo.; several nieces Mary White and husband Bill of Winona, Mo.; Vicki Trask and husband Mark of Houston, Texas, Marsha Dale of Mountain View, Mo., and Connie Kennedy and husband Jim of Pierce City, Mo.; and one nephew David Woodworth, Kan. One brother, Ira Woodworth, and one infant, sister Virginia Woodworth, preceded her in death, along with four nephews, Henry Woodworth, Charles Woodworth, Fred Woodworth and Dennis Woodworth. Erma was always ready to help when there was work to be done. She loved her animals and enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed working at Birch View Manor until she became ill in the past few months and was unable to continue working. Funeral services were held Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, Mo., with Rev. Dorothy Ellen Brooks officiating. Interment was in Pine Lawn Cemetery in Winona, Mo., under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Winona.
JANET MARIE WHITE TAYLOR - Daughter of Hershel Harvey and Neoma Irene ANDERSON WHITE, was born September 2, 1945 in St. Louis, MO and departed this life on Saturday, January 15, 2004 after a long illness, making her age 59 years, 4 months and 13 days. Janet attended school in Madison, Illinois and attended college at SMS in Springfield working on a degree in education. She was blessed with 5 children: Tracey, Virginia, Richard, Barbara, and Leigh. Janet is preceded in death by her father, Hershel WHITE; three brothers, Gerald Ray WHITE, Harold WHITE and Kenny WHITE. She is survived by her mother, Neoma WHITE of Hartshorn, MO.; her children, Tracey REYNOLDS of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Virginia TAYLOR of Glen Carbon, Illinois; Richard TAYLOR of North Carolina; Barbara TAYLOR of Success, MO and Leigh MCCOWN of Success, Mol, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; one brother, Donald WHITE of Jacksonville, Florida, two sisters, Karen ATHON of Houston, and Donna SCHWEIGHAUSER, of Rolla MO., and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were held on Monday evening, January 17, 2005, at 7 p.m. at Bradford Funeral Home in Summerville with interment in Rector Cemetery Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
RUBY MARGARET ENNIS TAYLOR - Daughter of the late Alvin Ab and Sarah Patterson Ennis, was born, at the family home in West Eminence, MO, on Aug. 18, 1925, and passed away in her home, in Ventura, CA on Oct. 3, 1987. Ruby suffered with cancer, bravely, for thirteen years. She loved her family, very much, and showed it in every way possible. She accepted Christ, as her Savior, in early life, in the West Eminence Christian Church, later transferring, by baptism, into the First Baptist Church in Eminence, MO. She was employed as a secretary, in government service, in the Personnel division, for twenty years. Ruby was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susan, her parents, two brothers, Gilbert 1979 and Ford 1984, the Roving Reporter for the Current Wave. She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Taylor and daughter Carolyn Garner of the home, in Ventura, daughters Beverly Bressler, of St. Louis, MO, Peggy Jo Eddy of San Diego, CA and Sarah Ruth Stromberg of El Dorado Hills, CA. Two step children, Mrs. Tommy Prell, of San Diego, CA and Bob Taylor of Oceanside, CA. Also, eight grandchildren. Four sisters and one brother survive. Mabel Cooper and Mary Ann Brawley of Port Huenerne, CA, Ruth Brooks of Oxnard, CA, Eve Fister of Tyler, TX and Shannon Ennis of Eminence, MO.
THOMAS H. 'TOM' TAYLOR - Of Birch Tree. Born in Jonesboro AR on September 15, 1923. Died at St. Francis Hospital Sunday, May 2, 1999. Tom was the son of the late Marie L. WILSON and Homer Levi TAYLOR. He was the brother of the late Jenne M. TAYLOR GROSE. The family relocated to St. Louis when Tom was three years old. He attended school in St. Louis and entered the United States Army at the age of 17. He served at San Luis Obispo and in the Security Unit at Boulder Dam. After leaving military service he became interested in the trucking business which he followed for nearly 50 years. Tom is survived by his wife Erma TAYLOR whom he married May 4, 1963 at Cahokia, IL. Other survivors include aunts, Mrs. Evelyn ALBERT and Peggy A. BROWN, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona with Rev. Harold SMITH officiating. ARMENDA FEARS TEAGUE - Born on May 26, 1919 in Carter County, Missouri, the daughter of Otho and Valerie Chitwood Fears. She departed this life on August 18, 1994, in Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Ray Rosa, and to this union three sons were born. She later married Carl W. Teague, and they were blessed with two sons. She was then married to James Teague. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant; one son, Harold Rosa; and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home in St. Louis, MO; four sons, Walter Rosa of St. Louis, MO and Ernest Rosa of Mountain View, MO; Benjamin C. Teague of Marshall, MO and Carl Francis Teague of Illinois; four brothers, Joe Fears of St. Louis, MO; Bill Fears of Stockton, CA; Luther Fears of St. Louis, MO; and Daniel Fears of Salem, MO; four sister, Ellen Barryinger of St. Louis, MO; Stella Honeycutt of Winona, MO; and Genevia Barnes of St. Louis, MO; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 22, 1994, at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO with burial in New Eminence Cemetery near Eminence, under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Winona, MO.
JUSTIN WAYNE TEAGUE - Born Jan. 21, 2002, at Moberly, Mo., the son of John Teague and Loretta (Wright) Teague. He passed away Oct. 20, 2008, at his home in Winona, Mo., at the age of 6 years. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Teague and Elmer Barton; one aunt, Patricia Hardwick; and one uncle, George Teague. He is survived by parents, John and Loretta Teague of Winona, Mo.; three brothers, Johnathan Teague and wife Candie of Winona, Mo., Josh Teague of Atlanta, Mo., and Devin Wright of Winona, Mo.; two sisters, Olivia Wright of Moberly, Mo., and Veronica Sims of Winona, Mo.; his grandmothers, Anita Rather of Winona, Mo., and Shirley Teague of Houston, Mo.; three uncles, Robert Wright and wife Melissa of Columbia, Mo., Elmer Wright of Columbia, Mo., and Robert Teague and wife Juanita of Winona, Mo.; and a host of other family and friends. Justin was born in Moberly, Mo., and had lived in Ellington, Mo., since October 2007 until he recently moved to Winona, Mo., with his parents. Justin had attended kindergarten at Ellington and Winona. Justin was a fighter and had fought the battle with cancer for four years. Although he was a small child, he had endured the chemotherapy, radiation and stem cell implant. Justin enjoyed watching TV and especially his favorite show “Sponge Bob Square Pants.” He also enjoyed playing “Wii” video games. We love our little cowboy. He will always be in our hearts and memories. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, Mo., with Brother Tim Tipton officiating. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery at Winona under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Winona.
WALTON ERNEST TEAGUE - Son of Anvil and Minnie Teague, was born April 4, 1898, near Birch Tree, Missouri. He passed away at Barnes Hospital December 3, 1963. He was married September 15, 1923, to Mildred Parker at Winona, Missouri. To this union on son, Demster Lee Teague, was born. Walton spent most of his life in Shannon County, the last twenty-two years working at the Ozark Store. He was noted for his honesty and uprightness in all his dealings and in his Creator had a deep and childlike trust. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mildred, his son, D.L. Teague, and wife and the grandchildren, Beverly and Michael; three brothers, Harley, Ray, and Tom; three sisters, Marie Frazier, Venita Nichols, and Alleen McNeill; his aunt, Mrs. Etta Rucker; his step-mother, Linda Teague; and a number of nephews, nieces, and friends. He was laid to rest in the Holly Memorial Cemetery in Charlottesville, Virginia.
CURTIS LEE TERRILL - Born March 26, 1954 to Robert and Nova Jean Terrill in Scotia, California. He passed away August 23, 2006 in Summersville, MO, making his age 52 years. He is preceded in death by his dad, Robert; grandparents, Earnest and Ellen Terrill and Walter and Laura Dixon; one brother-in-law, Frank White; two cousins, Danny and Gary Terrill; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother, Jean, of Houston; his son, Billy Lee; his companion of many years, Glenda, and her 2 children, Brian and Connie; brother, Monty, wife, Terry, of Jackson, MO; sister, Kay White, of Texas; Karen Helton and husband, Kevin, of Summersville, MO; nieces, Tammy and husband, David, Monica, Charlie, Keri, husband, Joe, Bobbie, husband, Toby; nephews, Robert, Brandon, Kevin, great nephews, Adam, Jase, Dayton, and Dawson; great niece, Lexie, 5 grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Curt drove a truck for many years and worked in the timber. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He had a giving heart and loved to laugh and have fun with his family and friends. He enjoyed being with his long time friend, Tom Hawkins. Curt never met a stranger. Services were held Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Bradford Funeral Home in Summersville with Rev. Debra Faye Summers Terrill the daughter of Charles Howard Tinker Summers and Nora Mae Farrow Summers was born September 2, 1951 in Mountain View, Missouri and passed away at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Missouri Tuesday, December 21, 2010 making her age 59 years 3months and 19 days. Faye graduated from Summersville R II School. Faye worked for many years at Angelica Uniform Factory until her health forced her to quit work. She was a talented seamstress, making many of her own patterns and original designs. She married Gary Steven Terrill in 1987. To this union she brought two daughters, Chris Savan and Ryna Dawn and to the marriage Gary brought two daughters, Cynthia Jeanette and Regina Elizabeth. Her heart was broken when Gary passed away in December 1999. Faye was active in the Summersville Community serving on the Summersville Chamber of Commerce in almost every office, serving as City Councilwoman, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7222. She was the driving force behind Summersville Veterans Park Square. Faye was very proud to find a way to honors all veterans, especially her husband Gary's memory. Faye was diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes, then when her kidneys began failing she started dialysis. Even with failing health she was interested in helping her family and her community. Preceding Faye in death are her parents, Tinker and Nora Mae Summers, her husband Gary, sister Pauline Stewart, 2 brothers, Denny Summers and a infant brother Everett Summers, grandson-in-law Brock Gaston, nephew Paul Stewart, niece Kim Labbee, father-in-law and mother-in-law Norman and Jane Terrill, and a brother-in-law Danny Terrill. ESTIL CARLOS TERRILL - Born June 1, 1920 on Current River and passed away at his home Saturday morning, March 4, 2006 making his age 85 years. He was the son of Carlos E. Terrill and Mamie Adeline Patterson Terrill. Estil and Vineta Elenora Green were united in marriage June 26, 1939. To this union two children were born, Junior and Betty. Estil worked in the timber industry most of his life and worked on the family farm with his wife. He was a member of the Christian Church of Mountain View. He served in the United States Army serving in the Infantry during World War II. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Mamie, an infant brother Sammie Dean, brothers, Carl Dale, Glen and Millard, one sister, Bonnie Duncan and her husband Bill Duncan and one daughter-in-law Carlotta. Estil is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vineta Terrill of Summersville, MO; daughter Betty Allsopp of Henderson, Nevada; son, Junior Terrill and wife Betty of Cedar Hill, MO; one brother, Dwain Terrill and wife Wilma Lee of Summersville, MO; two sisters, Mabeline Cleaver of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Wilma Davis of Morton, Washington; 9 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. MARTHA JANE DUNCAN TERRILL - Born January 24, 1932 in Shannon County, Missouri to Lewis and Bessie (Plowman) Duncan. Jane went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her sweetheart Norman, June 28, 2008, while at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, making her age 76 years. Jane and Norman Gentry Terrill were united in marriage October 18, 1946. God blessed them with eight children: Gary, Susan, Michael, Marlene, Danny, Barbara, Bonnie, and Jim. Jane accepted Christ at an early age. She and Norman were long time members of the First Baptist Church in Summersville where they were faithful members and dedicated to serving others. Jane worked several years as a supervisor at Angelica Uniform Company until the late 60’s. Jane dearly loved her sweetheart, Norman, and her children. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. Her family was truly the apple of her eye. She was a dedicated and faithful mother and friend. Preceding Jane in death was her sweetheart Norman; two sons, Gary Steven and Norman Danny. Also preceding her were her parents, Lewis and Bessie Duncan, her sisters and brothers, Lewis, Leonard, Bill, Maude, Nancy, and Lillian. Vineta Eleanor GREEN Terrill was born October 20th, 1920 to her parents, A. H. (Herb) Green and Ethel Ivy (Paschall) Green at Thomasville, Missouri and passed away after a lengthy illness at the Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View, Missouri, Wednesday evening, January 19, 2011 making her age 90 years. Vineta and Estil Carlos Terrill were united in marriage June 26, 1939. To this union two children were born, Junior Charles and Betty Jean. Estil passed away in 2006 making their union 66 years at his death. Vineta worked for many years at the Angelica Uniform Factory in Summersville, retiring after 30 plus years of service. She also was active in the family farming and enjoyed helping with the cattle. She is preceded in death by her husband Estil, parents, A.H. (Herb) and Ethel Green, 3 brothers, Arthur, Harold and Ansel Green and daughter-in-law Carlotta. FREDARICA 'RICKI' SMITH THIMMES - Born April 4, 1923 at Summersville, MO the daughter of Fred Smith and Mary Ida Kirkman Smith. She passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, MO at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Robert 'Bob' Thimmes on February 28, 1946 in Pasadena, CA . Ricki and Bob shared a union of 25 years before his death in March 1972. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ida Smith; her husband Bob; 2 brothers George Smith and Fred H. 'Buck' Smith of Landers, CA; 2 sisters Vera Kerr of Mt. Vernon, MO and Zola Smith of Mountain View, MO. She will be sadly missed by her sister Willodean Turner and husband Karl of Enid, OK; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends scattered from California to South Carolina and from Nebraska to Georgia. Ricki graduated from Summersville High School in 1941 and went to Pasadena , CA in 1943. She worked at O'Keefe & Merit Stove Factory until her marriage. She and her husband Bob settled in Downey, CA. Ricki lived in Downey for 53 years where she lived until September of 2006 when she returned to Missouri to be cared for by the Willow Care Nursing Home and her niece Sharon Bales of Mountain View, MO. Ricki loved her yard and especially her roses. She was always outside digging, pruning, and watering. Her roses are still blooming for her. She was of the Protestant faith. BENJAMIN HARRISON THOMAS - Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ammon Thomas, was born August 23, 1904 and departed this life June 10, 1966 at the age of 61 years, 9 months and 17 days. He was united in marriage to Martha Warren on February 17, 1929 and to this union four children were born. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Martha of St. Louis; three sons, Leroy Thomas of Allenton, Missouri, Wayne Thomas of St. Louis, Missouri and Carmel Ray Thomas of St. Louis; one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Henson of St. Louis; two grandsons, Mike Thomas and Kevin Mooney; three granddaughters, Peggy Thomas, Pat Thomas and Colleen Thomas; also surviving are two brothers, Noah and Wes Thomas, both of Bunker, Missouri. CECIL L. 'TAD' THOMAS - Born July 7, 1902 in Shannon County, Mo, the son of Enoch Thomas and Iva Jane White. He departed this life on January 11, 1986 at the Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Mo. at the age of 83 years. He was married to Myrtle Lillian Meade on July 8, 1923 and to this union one daughter was born, Betty Jane Pigg. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter, eight brothers, and his sisters. He is survived by three grandsons, Don Pigg of Willow Springs, Mo.; Tom Pigg and Dick Pigg of Jackson, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Patricia Colbert of willow Springs, Mo.; one sister, Cora Lee Roberts of Springfield, Mo.; and eight great grandchildren. He is survived by is wife Lillian Thomas of West Plains, MO; two sons William Earl Thomas and wife Carolyn of St. Louis, MO and Tommy Charles Thomas and wife Judy of Fenton, MO; three daughters, Shirley Jennewein of Willow Springs, MO; Mary Lee Scism and husband Norbert of Mountain View, MO, Jeanette Denny and husband Frank of Willow Springs, MO and Sherry Jennewein of Mountain View, MO; his grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. Charles served in the United States during World War II. He attended the West Side Family Center Church in Willow Springs, MO when his health allowed him. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting and he loved watching cowboy movies, a favorite past time he shared with his children. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. View, MO at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 18 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son and 1 sister. She is survived by 1 daughter, Carolyn Randolph of Grand Junction, CO and 5 sons, Malcom Woods of Terre Haute, ID, Ed Woods of Winona, MO, Lewis Shiflett of Blockton, IA, Dave Shiflett of Afton, IA , Troy Woods of Eminence, MO of home. Also 2 sisters (Mearle Politowitz and Abbe Fredeking), 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends. She had lived in the Eminence and Winona areas for around 50 years and was a member of the Nazarene Church in Eminence. EVERETT ALLISON THOMAS - Of Eagle River, Alaska, formerly of Eminence, passed away on February 12, 2005, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Everett was born September 6, 1923, in Russellville, Kentucky, to Troy Allison THOMAS and Estaline SHOLAR. His family moved to Eminence when he was very young. After attending school in Eminence, he served in the U. S. Air Force, retiring in 1963. He moved to Alaska in 1973, working for Alascom as a telecommunications technician until retirement in 1990. He is survived by his son, Troy A. THOMAS of Eagle River, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Paul HASSINGER of Indian Trail, North Carolina; grandson Dalton HASSINGER of Indian Trail, North Carolina; his brothers, Tommy THOMAS and wife Janet of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and Michael THOMAS and wife Lynne of Chandler, Arizona; his sisters, Margaret SHOCKLEY of Mountain View, Missouri, and Mary LINHART-PRYOR and husband W. D. PRYOR of St. Louis, Missouri; sister-in-law Norma THOMAS of Antigo, Wisconsin; close friend and former wife, Lieu THOMAS -WILKE of Anchorage, Alaska; many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Hunter THOMAS. Some of his interests and hobbies were things common to both Missourians and Alaskans: hunting, fishing and camping, and flying, for which he had a great love. Everett was a wonderful man who touched many lives with his generosity, good nature, and kindness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Everett Lewis “Junior” Thomas, Jr. was born April 15, 1941 at Pleasant Site in rural Carter County, MO the son of Everett Lewis Thomas, Sr. and Alice Dortha (Dailey) Thomas. He passed away February 4, 2016 at West Plains, MO at the age of 74 years. He married Nina Hensley on May 30, 1959 at Eminence, MO and to this union three daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his three daughters Shelia Worrell and husband Dean of Lincoln, NE, Tammy Hickman of Winona, MO and Regina (Gina) Voyles and husband Kevin of Winona, MO; two sisters Ona Fern “Tooter” Warren and husband Bill of Springfield, MO, JoAnn Denning and husband Leroy of Winona, MO; eight grandchildren Derek Thomas, Jesse Worrell, Taralyn Worrell of Lincoln, NE, Justin Thomas, Jami Thomas, Jared Brindley, Casey Voyles and Cody Voyles of Winona, MO; seven great grand children; nieces and nephews Michael Denning, Lisa Marchbank, Terry Warren, Gary Warren, Angie Piercy and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. “The Biggest Little Man in Missouri” as Junior always called himself worked in the timber woods in the Winona area before moving with his family to Lincoln, Nebraska. He managed a filling station there for more than 10 years until returning to the area. Junior loved to drive his old spray painted pickup truck on gravel roads and log roads while listening to music with his Jack Russell Terrier, Little Bit. When something tickled him, Junior would get a twinkle in his eye. He always told people they need to drive a Ford. Junior loved music, especially the music of Johnny Cash, and he loved the holidays and looked forward to spending time with family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. GENERAL 'LOGAN' THOMAS - Born on May 11, 1888, at Winona, Missouri, the son of Shelby and Eliza Jane Brown Thomas. He departed this life on December 24, 1971, at the St. Francis Hospital, Mountain View, Mo., at the age of 83 years and 7 months. Logan had been in ill health for the last few years. Logan Thomas, as he was known to his many friends and neighbors, professed his faith in Christ as a young man and joined the Methodist Church. He was a faithful member until his death. Logan was active in the church until ill health prevented him from attending. He had lived in Dent, Carter, and Shannon counties all of his life. He was married to Sarah Margaret Massie on February 28, 1909, and to this union were born six children; Ruth Bergman, of St. Louis, Mo.; Fern Corbett, of O'Fallon, Mo.; Everett, of the home, Birch Tree, Mo.; - two sons and one daughter died in infancy. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife, three brothers and three sisters. Gentry 'Ray' Thomas - Born on Sep. 3, 1931 to Shade Thomas and Lola Williams in the Blairs Creek Community of Shannon County. He departed his life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 11, 2008 at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 8 days at his home in Eminence MO. Ray married Thelma Shelton Mar. 27, 1950 at St. Louis MO, and to this union four children were born. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Shade Thomas and Lola Thomas Metzler; his son Jay Thomas; one sister Thelma O'Dell; and three brothers Irby Lester (in infancy), Ira Thomas and Harold Thomas. The first job after he married was with the Bales Boating Co. and his last job was with the Cross Country Trail Ride. Ray attended the First Assembly of God Church in Eminence MO. He gave his heart and life to the Lord many years ago and continued to serve him until the day he left this world. Ray will be missed by his family, his church family and his many friends and neighbors. G. JEAN ROBERTS THOMAS - Born on February 18, 1916 in Fleming Co KY to Hiram Christopher ROBERTS and Nora LAWHUN ROBERTS. She passed away on February 24, 2006 at her residence in Birch Tree MO at the age of 90 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jean Dervage THOMAS, Sr.; her parents; two daughters, Jean Adalee THOMAS and Sonja Ethelwyn ALFORD; seven brothers, Troy Mitchell, Gianees Behayse, Hiram Christopher, Jr., Amos Marshall, Ollie Mefford, Otto Clifford, Estel Jewette and James Drenon ROBERTS, and two grandchildren, Jean Dervage THOMAS III and Dennis Ray SADLER. Jean is survived by seven children, William Mitchell THOMAS, Birch Tree MO; Jean Dervage THOMAS, Jr., Mountain View MO; John Paul THOMAS, Birch Tree MO; Bobye Lee THOMPSON, Apache Junction AZ; Norma Rose BUCKNER, Herber AZ; LaNora Kay PETERSON, Birch Tree MO, and Brenda Dac LOOPER, Phoenix AZ; and two sisters, Esther DURHAM, Saratoga IN, and Minerva MORFORD, Winchester IN; thirty grandchildren, fifty plus great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. She was a member of Full Gospel Truth Church in Tulsa OK, and a Minister at the Evangelist Full Gospel Lighthouse Church for nearly 50 years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Duncan Funeral Chapel in Mountain View MO with Rodney FISHER officiating. IVA JANE WHITE THOMAS - Mrs. Iva Jane Thomas (nee White) was born October 2, 1858. She was married to Rev. E. L. Thomas on November 9, 1879. To this union ten children were born, seven girls and three boys, eight of whom are still living. Two are dead, one dying in infancy and the other, Mrs. Vesta Moore, at the age of 24 years. Mrs. Thomas has lived a widow since the death of her husband, which occurred November 12, 1901. Mrs. Thomas was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, at the age of 21 years, and has lived a devoted Christian life since that time. She has been confined to her bed most of the time since July of last year, but she bore her suffering with patience, always manifesting her faith in God to sooth her pain. She prayed that she might be permitted to die easy, and her prayer was answered in as much as her end came as a peaceful slumber, on January 28, 1923, at her home in Eminence, Mo. She leaves two sisters, three sons, Albert Thomas of Kansas, Evert and Cecil Thomas, of Eminence, Mo., and five daughters, Mrs. Tapath Barnett, Mrs. Nora Caylor, Mrs. Cora Roberts, of Eminence; Mrs. Ethel Smotherman, of Congo, all of this county, and Miss Eunice Thomas, of California. Several grandchildren and a host of friends also mourn her departure. The funeral was conducted by Rev. M.P. Smotherman in the Pleasant Grove church, of which she was a member, and her remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in the beautiful cemetery adjoining the church. Truly a good woman has gone out of our midst. We shall surely see her again in that "land that is fairer than day." - The Current Wave 8 Feb 1923.
Kathyrn Dooley Thomas - Passed away at her son's home in St. Louis at age 83. She was the daughter of Nellie and Charley Dooley , Eminence, MO. Kathyrn was married to Ira Thomas. Both her parents and husband preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Billy and Douglas Thomas, both of St. Louis area. SITES THOMAS - Born November 12, 1921 at Beldenville, WI the daughter of Myron Lee SITES and Ada May TRUESDELL SITES and passed away February 17, 2007 at West Plains, MO at the age of 85 years. She was united in marriage to Charles Earl THOMAS on July 27, 1938 at Eminence, MO and to this union five children were born, and they raised their granddaughter, Sherry JENNEWEIN. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Myron Lee and Ada Mae SITES; her husband Charles Earl THOMAS on November 14, 2006; one brother Earl SITES; and one sister Ruby STANLEY. She is survived by two sons William Earl THOMAS and wife Carolyn of St. Louis, MO and Tommy Charles THOMAS and wife Judy of Fenton, MO; three daughters, Shirley JENNEWEIN of Willow Springs, MO; Mary Lee SCISM and husband Norbert of Mountain View, MO, Jeanette DENNY and husband Frank of Willow Springs, MO and Sherry JENNEWEIN of Mountain View, MO; her grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. Lillian loved to swim and go fishing. She also loved to read her Bible and travel when she could. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She attended the West Side Family Center Church in Willow Springs, MO when her health allowed her. She loved the Lord very much and wished that all would get to know him too. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Monday February 19, 2007 at the Westside Family Center Church in Willow Springs, MO with Reverend Danny HICKS and Reverend Beth HICKS officiating. She is survived by her husband, of the home in Eminence MO; son Charles MURPHY, Thayer MO; daughter Dorothy JOHNSON, Monroe City MO; 2 granddaughters, Mary Helen and Jennifer Louann JOHNSON, Monroe City MO; four brothers, Ivory JEWELL, Heppner OR; Jack JEWELL, Monument OR; and Ted and Richard JEWELL, both of Koshkonong MO; four sisters, Juanita REEF, Bowling Green KY; Alice MAY, Bossier City LA; Nedra HICE, Koshkonong MO and Alma GILLESPIE, Overland Park KS. Michael Tilden Thomas - Age 67, passed away on Tuesday, November 1st, in Mesa, Arizona. Mike was born on June 13th, 1944, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Troy A. and Estaline (Sholar) Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Lynne (Brown) Thomas; sons Curtis and Jeffrey Thomas and Brett Thomas (Kate) of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jacob and Samantha Thomas of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Mary Linhart-Pryor of St. Louis, Missouri; and one brother, Tommy Thomas (Janet), of Cherokee Village, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Estaline Thomas, two brothers, Everett and Billy Thomas; and one sister, Margaret (Thomas) Shockley. Mike attended school in Eminence, Missouri. He had made his home in Arizona for many years. No services are planned at this time.
OPAL 'ALEEN' DILLARD THOMAS - Born January 31, 1915 at Little Shawnee Shannon Co MO to Lewis DILLARD and Elizabeth DENT, and departed this life July 5, 2007 at her daughter Karen’s residence in Caledonia MO at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 4 days. Aleen was united in marriage to Erna THOMAS July 9, 1931 at Big Shawnee Shannon Co MO. They were married by Justice of Peace Bert FRENCH on the porch of the French’s residence. To this union, five children were born: Joyce, Gene, Gerald, Glendale and Karen. She was preceded in death by parents, Lewis and Elizabeth DILLARD; her loving husband of 58 years, Erna THOMAS; grandchild, Lonnie THOMAS; great grandchild, William Cody COUNTS; step-great grandchild, Andrew COOPERMAN; son-in-law, Dave WRING; sister, Arlie AKERS; and two brothers, Orville MCAFEE and Willie DIXON. Aleen enjoyed watching the animals and especially enjoyed watching the birds the last few months at her daughter’s home. She was a very unselfish and humble person. He was preceded in death by his parents Blue and Sarah Thomas; his wife Wilma Louise Thomas; two brothers Eddie Thomas and David Thomas; four sisters Kathryn Laira, Jane Renard, Rose Stickler and Sybil Price and one granddaughter Dawn Behm. WALTER LEE THOMAS - Born on March 2, 1900, to Joseph and Eveline BURNS THOMAS. He departed this life on May 13, 1988, at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 11 days. In 1925 he married Bessie BURNS and to this union three children were born. In 1955 he married Pauline SUTHERLAND of Eminence, who survives. He was preceded in death by one son, Euel L. THOMAS; five brothers, three sisters and a stepson. Those he leaves to mourn his passing are his wife, Pauline, of the home; a son, Donald THOMAS, High Ridge MO; a daughter, Louise VAUGHN, Arnold MO; and one sister, Irene BEST, Eminence MO. He also leaves two stepdaughters, Mildred JOHNSON, Clinton MO, and Eula DAUGHERTY, Cherokee Village AR; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nine step- grandchildren; eighteen step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was a hard working man who lived most of his life in this community. His wit and good humor will be missed by all who loved him. William Mitchell Thomas - Born June 16, 1942 at Connersville IN, the son of Jean Dervage Thomas, Sr. and Goldie Jean Roberts. Bill was employed as a welder at Cypress Steel in Phoenix AZ for many years, as well as being a carpenter. He built his home in Birch Tree when he returned to the area 14 years ago. He owned and operated a pool hall in Birch Tree for a short time. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his various bands in the clubs. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing horseshoes. Bill was an unselfish and beautiful human with a radiant personality. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Tina Rachelle Hayes Thomlinson, daughter of Cleo and Wilma (Hollinsworth) Hayes, was born in Farmington, Missouri on October 27, 1962. Tina passed away at her home in Salem on December 30, 2009 at the age of 47 years, 2 months and 3 days. Tina was united in marriage to Scott Thomlinson on November 23, 2001. She was the mother of three children. Tina was preceded in death by her grandparents, Myrtle and Perry Hollinsworth. Tina enjoyed being in the outdoors CAmping, hunting and 4-wheeling in the mud. She also enjoyed playing the lottery. Tina loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her. ALFRED MARSHALL THOMPSON - Born April 10, 1913 at Wilmer, Minnesota to Albert Thompson and Hannah LEVERINA THOMPSON. Alfred passed away at the Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View, MO on Friday afternoon December 31, 2004 making his age 91 years 8 months and 21 days. He was united in marriage to Chloe Virginia OSBORNE July 1, 1937 making their union together 67 years. To their union three children were born, Donna, Mark and Jim. Alfred worked as a heavy equipment operator in Vancouver, Washington. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his later years his greatest delight was to see the faces of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church attending the church at Willow Springs along with his wife Chloe. Preceding Alfred in death are his parents, Albert and Hannah, his brother Robert THOMPSON, his sister Olive THOMPSON KASKI and his mother-in-law, Esther EILTS. Alfred is survived by his beloved wife Chloe THOMPSON of Mountain View, his children Donna HOWELL and husband Robert of Big Creek; Mark THOMPSON and wife Mary of Weiser, Idaho; Jim THOMPSON of Palmer, Alaska; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Services were held at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville Wednesday, January 5th, 2005 with Pastor Les BRYAN officiating. BERNICE ELVA COOLEY HERRINGTON THOMPSON - Age 88, of Winston, Oregon, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2005. She was born on August 31, 1916, in Winona, Missouri, daughter of William Joseph 'Joe' Cooley and Margaret Emaline 'Maggie' Barnes Cooley. She was raised and educated in Missouri. She was married on 27 Mar 1935 to Luin Herrington and had two sons, Derald and Ronald Herrington. After a divorce, she later met and fell in love with Harold Thompson. They married and had a daughter, Margaret. In 1948 they moved west to Warrenton, Oregon where they resided for twelve years. In 1960 they settled in Winston, which has been home since. 'Bunch' worked as a cook for Douglas High School for seventeen years. She enjoyed craftwork, including crocheting and hand quilting. She also enjoyed cooking and watching professional wrestling matches. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Johnsen and her husband David of Winston, two sons, Derald Herrington and his wife Sandy of Auburn, Washington and Ron Herrington and his wife Patty of Roseburg, Oregon. Mrs. Thompson also leaves six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, who passed away in 1985, her parents, five brothers, Merl, Carlos, Henry, Ivan and 'Short' Cooley and three sisters, Pearl Ballance, Jessie Tripp and Clara Rendelman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2005, at Taylor's Family Chapel. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, April 7, 2005, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a reception at the Winston VFW Hall after the services. Private interment will be at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
BERNIECE LEON BALLANCE THOMPSON - Age 95, passed on to her heavenly home, while at Sonshine Manor Nursing Home (Republic) on December 27, 2010. She was born June 21, 1915 to William 'Austin' Balance and Janie ‘Irene’ Keller Ballance at Rocky in Shannon County, Mo. Berniece married Gerald D. Thompson on March 20, 1937. To that union were born two children, daughter, Glodeen Jennings; and son, Jerry Thompson (wife, Jean), all of Springfield; also four grandchildren, Tamara (Michael) Rentchler, Brian (Angela) Thompson, Michael (Carla) Thompson, Gregory Thompson (deceased); eight, great-grandchildren (one deceased) and two great-great granddaughters. Also sister Geneva Koogler and several nephews and nieces. Berniece taught public school when she was only 18 years old and then was selected to start the Hot Lunch Program for Shannon County Schools which she did for approx, 15 years. She always loved children and people in general. In 1960 Berniece and Gerald moved to Springfield. They became active in their community and church, Webster Park Baptist and served at that church for 45 years. Berniece taught in the church, in several public schools in remedial courses, assisting in any capacity she could help. She was involved helping inmates in Greene County Jail learn to read and study for their GED's. She enjoyed helping people, giving of her self and proclaiming her strong faith in Christ. She lived her faith and today, she is enjoying her 'New' life with her savior and with her family that went ahead of her. The family appreciates the staff and caregivers at Sonshine Manor and the loving care they all gave. Funeral services will be Friday, December 31, 2010 at 3 P.M. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, December 30 in the funeral home. Berniece lived a full life, giving more than she received, loving her family and all of her family loved her.
Dallas Clinton Thompson of Winona, Missouri, departed this life on June 30, 2017 at the age of 72 in the company of his loved ones at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born December 1, 1944 at Uravan, Montrose County, Colorado, to Glenn and Lena (Norris) Thompson. He married first Crystal Marion and their daughter is Tracy. He married second Linda Toombs, and their son is Robert. Dallas was preceded in death by his mother Lena, father Glenn, brother Dwain, nephew Darrin, and former wife Linda. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Twila Woods Mensendick Thompson of Winona; one daughter Tracy Thompson Norris of Winona; son Robert Thompson and wife Clara of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and stepson Jonathan Mensendick and wife Emily of Winona; eight grandchildren Lindsay Norris and fiancé Bobby Atkins of Winona, Holli Norris Rutledge and husband Dustin of Birch Tree, Ashlee Norris Sites and husband Anthony of Winona, Glen and Joey Thompson of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Keeton Mensendick of Newport, Arkansas, and Chevy and Canaan Johnston of Winona; seven great grandchildren Kyleigh and Karson Smith, Aubree, Tucker, Blaedyn, and Rylan Sites all of Winona, and Gatlyn Rutledge of Birch Tree. Dallas also leaves former wife Crystal Beckerle, Rocky Mount, Missouri; sister-in-law Sherrie Buffington Thompson of Hollister, Missouri; aunt Josephine Ladd of Powell, Wyoming; uncle Junior Norris of Willow Springs, Missouri; and his special friend Frankie Weaver of Bristol, Virginia, who was more of a brother than cousin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous cherished friends. Dallas was an Air Force Veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a former Shriner and a member of the Lions Club. Dallas worked at many jobs in his life, but he most loved his time working for three Shannon County sheriffs and volunteering for the Winona Fire Department. Dallas lived a very blessed life enjoying hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was a fighter and a hero. He left footprints on the hearts of everyone that he met. Gordon Eugene Thompson was born at Eminence, MO on March 1, 1956, the son of Hiram and Beulah (Dunn) Thompson. He passed away March 28, 2016 at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO at the age of 60 years and 27 days. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Beulah (Dunn) Thompson; four brothers Joe Thompson, Don Thompson, Raymond Thompson, and Glenn Thompson; one sister Sylvia (Thompson) Cooley; four other siblings at a very young age; four nephews Paul Dwane Thompson, Jr., Jimmy Griffith, Johnny Thompson, and Ricky Counts; and one great niece Dianna Walker. Gordon is survived by two brothers Paul Thompson and wife Shirley of Winona, MO and James Golden Thompson and wife Phyllis of Colorado; one brother-in-law Gordon Cooley and wife Judy of Colorado; two sisters-in-law Anna Thompson of Eminence, MO and Kathy (Sue) Thompson of Mountain View, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gordon was handicapped all of his life but he was always busy doing something. He loved to tease and be teased. He worked at the Sheltered Workshop in Birch Tree, MO and was currently employed there. He was proud to have a job. He never wanted to miss work. He loved his family and all of his nieces and nephews who also loved him. Gordon was a loving uncle, brother, and cousin. All of the workers and friends at Birch Tree Nursing Home, his home for 31 years and at the Sheltered Workshop meant a lot to him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Helen Blanch Ferguson was born March 1, 1917 at Shannon County, MO the daughter of Robert Ferguson and Lula (Rollin) Ferguson. She passed away April 5, 2011 at her home in Birch Tree, MO at the age of 94 years. She was united in marriage to Charles M. Hunt on July 30, 1934 in Shannon County, MO. Helen later married Ruel I. Thompson. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lula Ferguson; her husbands Charles M. Hunt and Ruel I. Thompson; four sisters Opal McCord, Daisy Mooney, Ruby McCabe and Bernice Stopp; three sons Clifford Hunt, Robert Hunt and Bill Hunt; two daughters Shelby Bray and Barbara Rosson and one grandson Charles Eugene Hunt. She is survived by her daughter Georgia F. Bay of Birch Tree, MO; one step son Charles Leroy Warner of Ramona, CA; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Helen loved to sew and quilt. She was always sewing lap quilts, aprons and pot holders and giving to the local nursing home in Birch Tree. Helen enjoyed cooking and loved her flowers in her flower garden. She was a member of the Golden Age Board for several years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. James Everett 'Jim' Thompson, MD, age 67, passed away suddenly at his home on August 21, 2015. He was born August 2, 1948 in Birch Tree, MO to Ruel and Myrtle (Nelles) Thompson. He graduated from Birch Tree High School in the class of 1966 and attended college on a basketball scholarship in Walnut Ridge, AR. After serving as a pharmacist mate in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era, Jim continued his education at the University of Missouri where he obtained a medical degree in 1979. Jim spent his entire medical career serving as an ER physician on the staffs of various hospitals in Southeast Missouri. Jim was married to Jannetta Lyn Cantrell and during this union, the joys of his life, James Luke and Seth Logan were born. Jim loved nature and the home he built on THOMPSON FARMS was always his permanent residence. While Jim was known for his quick wit and humor, he was also a well-read, well-spoken and knowledgeable individual who could converse on any subject. Jim is survived and will always be missed by his beloved sons, Luke and Logan; sister Vena Lee and husband Harry Brondel; sister Sandra Rutledge; brother Verlon and wife Cora Thompson; brother Carroll and wife Lois Thompson; brother Leon and wife Joyce Thompson as well as 3 generations of nieces and nephews. He passed away on March 18, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View , MO at the age of 72 years. Joe was united in marriage to Flora Mae Jones on September 4, 1960 at Bennettville , South Carolina. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Flora Mae Thompson on June 16, 2001; his parents; one son Johnny Ray Thompson; one sister Sylvia Cooley and one brother Raymond Thompson. Joe is survived by three children Wayne Thompson and wife Julie of Eminence, MO; Joan Brumfield and husband Rudy of Guston, KY; and James Warriax and wife Mary of Maxton, NC; five brothers Golden Thompson and wife Phyllis of Colorado; Don Thompson of Hawaii; Paul Thompson and wife Shirley of Winona, MO; Glenn Thompson and wife Sue of Mountain View, MO and Gordon Thompson of Birch Tree, MO; a special brother-in-law Gordon Cooley of Colorado; a special sister-in-law Anna Thompson of Eminence, MO; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Joe served in the United States Army for 8 years from 1958 to 1966. He was honorably discharged in 1966 as a Specialist Fourth Class. During his time of service he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle and the Marksman Carbine. He served as a mechanic in the United States Army, and he spent most of his working life as a mechanic in auto garages. Joe loved to fish, hunt and whittle. He enjoyed riding in his truck while listening to Bluegrass music. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence, MO with Bro. Kurtis Wayne Thompson - Infant son of Jodie and Thomas Thompson was born asleep, December 18, 2009 at 11:11 AM, 7 pounds, 10 ounces and 22 inches long. Kurtis was such a special baby that God chose to keep him in Heaven and even though we will miss the opportunity of watching him grow we will long for the day we will be reunited with him. MYRTLE LUCINDA NELLES THOMPSON - Born January 25, 1911 to the late Walter Austin and LaVerna Evelyn Hopper Nelles at Ridgeway, Missouri. She departed this life on March 28, 2006 in Birch Tree, Missouri at the age of 95 years and 2 months. She attended eight years at the Arrington one-room country school and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1929. Myrtle taught at Lone Rock country school from the 1929-30 school year and attended Maryville Teachers College the summer of 1930. On February 17, 1936 in Willow Springs, Missouri, Myrtle was united in marriage to Ruel I. Thompson. During their life together, they made their home and reared their children on the Thompson family farm east of Birch Tree, Missouri. In 1977, while living in Independence, Missouri, Myrtle began a twenty-one year career as a foster grandparent working for the Harry Truman Neurological Center. She retired at age 87 and returned to her own home in Birch Tree, Missouri where she resided until her move to Birch Tree Place in January of 2006. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Pioneer Baptist and Country Line Pentecostal Churches in Birch Tree, Missouri during her retirement years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ruel Thompson; her parents; one sister, Edith Preston; one brother, Everett Nelles; an infant great-granddaughter, Joselyn Vargas; and one step-granddaughter, Sandy Johnson. Myrtle is survived by her six children, Vena Lee Brondel and husband Harry of Sugar Land, Texas, Sandra Ann Rutledge and husband Dale of Bluford, Illinois, Verlon Ruel Thompson and wife Cora of Birch Tree, Missouri, Walter Carroll Thompson and wife Lois of Kansas City, Kansas, James Everett Thompson, MD of Birch Tree, Missouri and Ralph Leon Thompson and wife Joyce of Birch Tree, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Fay Pulliam and May Pulliam; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews all of whom will dearly miss her. Brooke has been confined to her home due to her disabilities, but found pleasure in many things. She loved attending Green Valley State School in Springfield where she was the joy of the class. She brought such joy and love to her family with her smiles and beautiful ways. She is preceded in death by her great grandparents, James and Maxine Estes, Jim Sweet, and great great grandparents Archie and Alva Bird. She is survived by her mother and step-father Becky and Jimmy Gammon of Alton, Missouri, father Steve Thomure of West Plains, Missouri, 2 brothers, Seth Thomure-Gammon, and Broady Thomure-Gammon of Alton, Missouri, 1 sister Sara Thomure-Gammon and fiancee' Mitch of Sparta, Missouri; grandparents, Donnie and Wanda Martin of Sparta, Missouri, Emmett and Roberta Thomure of Mountain View, Missouri; Deloris Johnson of West Plains, and great grandmother Ida Mae Sweet of Sparta ; her uncle Jerry Don Martin and Katie. ROLLY ANDREW THROCKMORTON - Born December 5, 1925 to Elmer and Letha (Clark) Throckmorton at Anthony, Kansas. He departed this life on April 13, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Mountain View, Missouri at the age of 82. Rolly joined the United States Navy and served from August 11, 1943 to April 8, 1946 when he was honorably discharged. After returning to his hometown of Mountain View, Missouri, Rolly married Aileen Henry on August 15, 1946. To this union one son, Orville, was born. After the loss of Aileen, Rolly married Judy Clark on June 8, 1985. They then made their home in Birch Tree, Missouri where Rolly became Mayor and served more than two terms until his declining health forced him to resign. Rolly drove a truck for more than 47 years working for various companies and retiring from Craig Charcoal of Summersville, Missouri. Those who worked with Rolly often commented on his dedication to his work and his ability to train almost anyone to drive a truck. After many years of driving thousands of miles at night, Rolly became known as 'the nightcrawler' across southern Missouri. In his younger years, Rolly enjoyed spending time at the lake, as well as the racetrack. After grandchildren started coming along, Rolly could be found spending the afternoon teaching them how to drive a car or truck, ride a lawnmower, or pedal a new bike that he tested out for them. He was very proud of all of them and was always interested in what they were doing and their accomplishments. Rolly loved to work in his yard, and after his retirement, one of his favorite pastimes was mowing the yard. Rolly was preceded in death by his parents, one older brother, Eldo Throckmorton, one older sister, Azalea Schuster, wife Aileen, and one grandson, Jeremy Beavers. Rolly is survived by his wife, Judy, of the family home; one son, Orville Throckmorton and wife, Wanda, of Liberty, Missouri; one stepson, Eugene Cowen and wife, Bethany, of St. Peters, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Tammy Brockelbank and husband, Shawn, of Birch Tree, Missouri; four grandsons, Scott and Ian Throckmorton, Nathan Cowen and Christopher Brockelbank; three granddaughters, Heather Cowen, Rebekah and Jordan Brockelbank; three great- granddaughters and three great-grandsons; and several other family members that will miss him. Rolly had given his life to the Lord and that gave him the comfort and peace to get through the last few years of his life. Rolly will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to everyone that knew him. Not many people ever asked Rolly for a helping hand because he usually had already started or finished what he could do to help someone in need before they ever had a chance to ask. he took them both. Anyone who knew them loved them. They were the finest people
you could ever meet. They were always there and would do without if they thought
someone was in need. Tim and Shelly were saved and baptized on July 21, 2002.

Current Wave.] Winona residents killed in collision - Two Winona residents were killed Thursday morning when a tractor-trailer crossed into the path of their Chevrolet on a Shannon County highway, the State Highway Patrol reported. Timothy J. and Shelly D. Blunkall were traveling west on the U.S. 60 near Mountain View when the truck struck them head-on. The driver of the rig, Winona resident Keneth Shoemaker, was reportedly heading west when a truck ahead of him slowed in a work zone to avoid a pedestrian. Shoemaker's truck struck the slowed vehicle, then crossed the median and struck the car the Blunkalls were travelling in. Shelly Blunkall was 33. Esther Matilda Tritch Titus, 94, Eminence, MO died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at her daughter Karen’s home in Eminence, MO. Esther, daughter of the late Charles Tritch and wife Mary nee Scheer was born October 11, 1922 at New Haven, MO. She had been a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Houston, MO. Esther attended school through the eighth grade at the Bethlehem Lutheran School. She worked as a “Rosie Riveter” at Curtis Wright during WWII. She later owned and operated the Rayfield Hotel, Ozark Boating Company, and Two River Canoe Rental at Eminence, MO. Janice Gail Titus was born July 18, 1949 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of James Arthur Hassell and Mescal (Smith) Hassell. She left this world on January 15, 2014 at West Plains, MO at the age of 64 years, after suffering a heart attack and major stroke. Janice was united in marriage to Charles Titus on September 7, 1989. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Mescal Hassell. Janice is survived by her husband Charles Titus of Eminence, MO; two step-sons Dusty Titus and wife Kelly of Eminence, MO and Steven Titus and wife Annie of Marshfield, MO; one brother Jim Hassell and wife Brenda of Washington, PA; and four grandchildren Meagan Titus, Ruthie Titus, Gabe Titus and Luke Titus. Jan’s parents died when she was very young and she was raised by her grandmother, Lueanna Smith, on the farm on Jacks Fork River. She attended grade school and high school in Eminence and graduated in 1967. After graduation Janice worked various jobs until she married Charles Edward Titus. They lived in Eminence for a short period before moving to Jefferson City in 1990. Four years later they moved to Buffalo, MO where they managed a residential care facility. Due to health problems they returned to Eminence. Janice was a member of the Christian Church in Eminence, MO. She loved spending time with children, her family, and her dog “Gracie”. Janice enjoyed cross-stitching and cooking. Janice will be missed by all who knew her.
GENE TOBEY - Born September 29, 1924, in Masury OH, to Wilber George & Nellie Viola Tobey. Gene passed away on August 29, 2005, at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton St Louis Co MO. He spent four years in the U S Army during World War II, part of that time under General George PATTON. He lived in Eminence from 1963 to 1967. He was a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church. He owned a small business in South St Louis County for 25 years, retiring in 1994. He was an ardent golfer and fisherman. The thing he enjoyed most was preparing delicious meals for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Russell Jerome and Don. He leaves behind his wife of almost 40 years, Jean THOMAS BANKS TOBEY; his daughter, Linda VASILI ALEXIADES, Knoxville TN; sons, David Eugene TOBEY and Alan Lee BANKS; grandchildren, Jennifer and Patrick HAHN; Nikolas, Alexander, Anthy and Julianna ALEXIADES, and his sister-in-law, Teri RUSSELL TOBEY. He had so many friends. He will be sorely missed. The funeral service was held at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St Louis MO, on Friday, September 2, 2005. She passed away April 25, 2012 at her home in Winona, MO at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 10 days. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Bland Toombs on December 1, 1946 at Brentwood, MO and to this union six children were born Linda, Diane, Gary, David, Steve and Stanley. Geraldine was preceded in death by parents Walter Zinn and Edna Zinn Fitzwater; and two sisters Marie Franklin and Velma June Zinn. Bob loved to make muzzle loaders and gave away many of them to family and friends. He would work for hours whittling chains, wooden spoons and canes. Bob was a friend to many people and was always willing to help those in need. He was loved by many friends and especially his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. MELBA JEAN KERR TOY - Born May 26, 1935 in Carter County, MO to William Robert KERR and Florence Naomi SIMPSON KERR. She passed away April 12, 1999 at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Charles Abraham TOY on April 23, 1953 at Van Buren, MO. Five children were born to this union. Melba is preceded in death by her mother, Florence and her husband Clarence. She was a Paramedic and worked at Shannon County Ambulance and Afton City Fire Department. Terri loved her husband, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was an avid hunter and fisherman. She enjoyed watching the wild horses and tending to her plants. She loved nothing better than being in the woods hunting or on a riverbank fishing and camping. Terri always said when she was there it was so peaceful and that she felt closer to God. Terri loved spending time with her best friends Tina White and Carolyn Weaver, her husband, children, and grandchildren.

ORVAL MCKINLEY TRANBARGER - Son of the late Guy and Pansy (Bauer) Tranbarger, was born May 28, 1943 in Mountain View, Missouri. He entered into eternal rest on July 27, 2010 at his home west of Mountain View, at the age of 67 years 1 month and 29 days. He was surrounded by his loving family. Orval was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 where he trained with Special Forces for overseas duty and became a member of Company C, 39th Engineer Battalion (Combat). He served for two years, fighting in the Vietnam War, where he was seriously injured. Orval was honorably discharged on March 9, 1972 and was awarded the Purple Heart medal. After his military service, Orval met and married Margaret Pruett on February 2, 1970 in Mountain View. Together, they had four children: Maxine, Orval Jr. (Buck), Lilburn, and Michele. On June 28, 1997, he married Debbie Roberts and she was his everlasting, loving wife, who was by his side until the end. Orval was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his whole world. He was loved by many and will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ava Viola Norris was born April 27, 1908 to Lewis Jiles NORRIS and Nancy Elizabeth JONES NORRIS near Fremont, Missouri. She departed this life Oct. 26, 1996 at Birch Tree, Mo. at age 88 yrs. On July 18, 1924 Ava married Lee CAMPBELL of Hopkins Co KY and to this union three children were born. Ann, (Bob WEAVER) Tom, (Myrll BARNES, Rosalie FALLON), and Lois (Bill DOWNS, Don BARKLEY). She married William Washington TUCKER about 1932, and he brought seven children to this union, Walter (Pearl MILLER), Dorothy (Job MCNEELEY), Ray, (Elizabeth MILLER), Roy, (Nora BROWN), Vernon, (Eileen DICKERSON), and Kate (Mel VERMILLION), all of whom preceded her in death, and Erma (Buck LUCY, Ralph LITTLE) of Arnold, Missouri. Wash and Ava were blessed with five children of their own, June (Gene ROBERTS), Wayne, (Loretta TRAMMEL), Sharon (Ron WALLACE, Doug DAVIS), Doris, (Bonnie Lampkins), and Judy (Gene LEE, Hubert WALKER). Ava spent most of her life in Shannon County. She was the sixth child in a large loving family and she carried that love over to her own family. They will always remember her as a very devoted wife and mother. Preceding her in death are her husbands, Lee CAMPBELL and Wash TUCKER, her parents, six step children, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, several step grandchildren, 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Ava is survived by her eight children, one stepdaughter, 28 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren, one sister, Nellie CRAIG, and one brother, Oscar 'Brownie' NORRIS, along with many more family and friends. DALE GLEN TUCKER, SR. - Born October 20, 1957 at Festus, MO the son of Ellis Dale Tucker and Joyce Bridgmon, and passed away February 16, 2007 at the age of 49. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark Aaron Tucker, on October 9, 1999. He is survived by his two sons, Dale Glen Tucker, Jr. and wife, Eva, of Arnold, MO and Jesse Steven Tucker of Whitefish, MT; two sisters, Sherry Bush and husband, Pete, of Festus, MO and Evelyn Tucker of Festus, MO; two brothers, Matthew Tucker of Topeka, KS, Steven Tucker and wife, Christy, of Topeka, KS; and several nieces and nephews. Dale was a 1976 graduate of Southwest High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He then continued on to college at University of Missouri–Rolla and finished his education in the United States Navy, where he served the country for eight years aboard the USS Batfish nuclear submarine. Dale then continued his career as an educator, writing text books and teaching nuclear safety courses around the country before moving to Missouri to be with family. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Mountain View, MO with Bro. Steven Tucker officiating. Eileen Evelyn Dickerson Tucker, daughter of John A. DICKERSON and Dora MCADAMS DICKERSON, was born Oct. 29, 1922 in Shannon Co MO. She married Vernon A. TUCKER on Dec. 24, 1940, in the Rocky Community, and had three sons. Eileen and Vernon raised their family in Shannon Co MO, on a farm on Rocky. She passed away Nov. 14, 2001 in Franklin Co MO, where she and Vernon had lived for several years. She had been employed at the Wal-Mart store in Union for some time. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon in 1994, and two brothers. She is survived by three sons, Walt TUCKER, Raymond TUCKER, and James L. She was united in marriage to Columbus 'Ray' TUCKER on January 17, 1941 at Winona, MO. He was the son of William Washington TUCKER and Lois Adaline NEEDHAM TUCKER. and Anna Bell Warren Conway and departed this life on July 20, 1988
at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO at the age of 86
years, 6 months, and 20 days. She was united in marriage to John B.
Tucker on April 29, 1922 at Eminence, MO and to this union six
children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, John
B. Tucker; a son, Harvey Gene; a daughter, Evelyn Florene; a
son-in-law, Frank Donaldson; three brothers, Thomas Conway, Jessie
Conway, and John Dee Conway; one sister, Ruby Bell; one grandson,
one granddaughter and one great granddaughter. She is survived by
her four children, Nora Lee Donaldson; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Conway;
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Tripp; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Tucker; one sister,
Mrs. Reba Atchison of Salem, MO; one brother, Cecil Conway of Salem,
MO; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, nineteen great
grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law,
two sons-in-law; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host
of nieces and nephews. Martha accepted Christ as her Personal Savior
several years ago and was baptized at the West Eminence Christian
Church. She has taken her rightful place with God as she was
always an angel here on earth and much loved by everyone. Funeral

WILLIAMS was born Dec. 19, 1880 at Centerville, Reynolds Co MO and departed this
life Feb. 8, 1970 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 20 days in Howell Co MO.
Brothers and sisters of Wash TUCKER were Joseph Franklin, Mahala Jane, Sara
Etta, Nettie Ahmeda, Lula Belle, Grover Newton, and James Madison TUCKER. On
January 24, 1901, in Dent Co MO, Wash married Lois Adaline ‘Addie’ NEEDHAM
and to this union three children were born, Walter, Dorothy and Ray. Addie died
July 10, 1910, and Wash married Viola Belle 'Ola' Williams Jun. 25,
1911. Their
children were Roy, Vernon, Kate and Erma. At the age of 53 he married
Ava NORRIS CAMPBELL and 5 children were born to this union, June, Wayne, Sharon,
Doris and Judy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Addie, and two
children, Walter and Dorothy; his second wife, Ola; his mother and father, three
sisters, two brothers, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Wash
professed a faith in Christ at a very early age and kept his faith throughout
his life. He leaves to mourn hiss passing his wife Ava and five sons, Ray and
Vernon of Winona, Roy of Licking, Wayne of Union, Doris of Pacific, and five
daughters, Erma LITTLE of Arnold, Mo., Kate VERMILLION and June ROBERTS of
Winona, Sharon WALLACE of Mountain. View, Mo. and Judy LEE of Pacific; three step
children, Tom CAMPBELL of Washington, DC, Ann WEAVER and Lois BARKLEY of Winona,
38 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 17 step
grandchildren and many more friends and relatives. Wash, as he was fondly
called, was a loving husband and father, a dear friend and neighbor. He will be
sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at the
Assembly of God Church in Winona on Feb. 10, 1970 with Rev. Dolman Roderman of
Mountain. Grove officiating. Burial was in the Horner Cemetery under the direction of
the Clary Funeral Home of Winona.

Willie Doris Tucker was born on January 15, 1945, to William Washington Tucker and Ava Viola Norris Tucker on Rocky Creek in Winona, Missouri. He left this life on May 19, 2006, at the age of 61 years, at his home in Winona, Missouri. Doris was a graduate of Winona High School and lived most of his life in the Winona area. Doris is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Annette; brothers Walter Tucker, Ray Tucker, Vernon Tucker, and Tom Campbell; and sisters Dorothy Hoffman Tucker, Katie Tucker Vermillion; and Annalee Campbell Weaver. Doris leaves behind his three children- David of Winona, Missouri, Debbie Wright and husband John of Winona, Missouri and Bill of Melbourne, Florida; five grandchildren-Melinda, Michelle, Jana, Aaron, and Lilly; brother Wayne Tucker of Nixa, Missouri; five sisters-Erma Tucker Little of Arnold, Missouri, Lois Campbell Barkley, June Tucker Roberts, Sharon Tucker Davis, and Judy Tucker Walker all of Winona, Missouri. Doris also leaves numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Those who knew 'Tuck', as he was affectionately called, will always remember his quick wit and humor. He had a great many family and friends, and will be sadly missed. Graveside services were held Monday, May 22, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Horner Cemetery in Winona, Missouri, with Pastor Craig Osborne officiating. MICHAEL DANE TUFTS
- Born July 14, 1942 at Ashland,
Kentucky, to Arnold Tufts and Dorothy (Waller) Smith. He passed away August 23,
2006 at Mountain View, MO at the age of 64 years. Michael was preceded in death
by his father and one sister, Judith Hutchison. Michael leaves behind his mother
of Mountain View, MO; his long-time companion of 22 years, Julia Hopkins of
Mountain View, MO; one brother, Patrick Tufts of Birch Tree, MO; one aunt,
Frances Lawson of Ashland, KY; and a host of cousins and other family members.
Michael enjoyed fishing, wood working, building things, and collecting model
trains and planes. Michael will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved
him. Internment was in Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral
Home of Mountain View, MO.
DOROTHA ANN BURT TUGGLE - Daughter of Earl Burt and Eleanor (Squier) Burt, was born August 1, 1913 at Pontiac, Michigan and passed away at the Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View, Missouri, Monday morning, July 28, 2008, making her age 94 years, 11 months and 27 days. Dorotha was united in marriage to John W. Tuggle; and to their union two children were born; Roxann Sue and Ronald Bruce. She and John were married for 52 years before his passing. Dorotha loved gardening and playing shuffle board. She had been a resident of Mountain View Health Care for 5 years. Dorotha is preceded in death by her father, Earl Burt; mother, Eleanor Burt; husband, John Tuggle; sister, Evelyn Campbell; and brother, Bob Burt. Dorotha is survived by her son, Ron Tuggle and wife Heather, of Summersville, MO; and daughter, Roxann Cox and husband Paul, of Homer, Michigan. She also has five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a sister, Joann Smith, of Raleigh, North Carolina. A Memorial service is planned by the family at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
DELPHA IRENE LEE TUNE - Born March 28, 1920 to Larence Lenro Lee and Annie Caroline McMullen Lee at Mill Springs, Missouri. Irene entered Heavens gates October 12, 2012 in Mountain View, Missouri, making her age 92 years. Irene was united in marriage to William Edd Tune in 1937. To this union six children were born, Shirley Elene, Bill Ed, Mildred Ilene, Melvin Lee Roy, Lenro Allen and Charolette Nadine. Irene and her husband, Bill, owned and operated Tune’s Café in Summersville for many years. She enjoyed making pies, and was proud to be known for her pie making abilities. After they sold the café, she worked in many area restaurants. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. In her earlier years, Tune worked at the Sycamore Hospital in Sycamore, Illinois. She worked at Angelica Uniform Factory in Summersville. She used her sewing skills to make pillow dolls for her grandchildren and many area children who needed dolls. She was preceded by her parents, Larence and Anna Lee; husband, William Tune; brothers: Burnis Lee, Eugene Lee; sisters: Geneva Young, Wilma Haffner, Ilene Stover, Ellene Burkhart; three infant sisters; and two grandchildren, Victor and Vickie. Irene is survived by all her children: Shirley Hensley of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Bill Edd Tune of Summersville, Missouri, Mildred Ilene Barnhart of RockSprings, Texas, Melvin Tune of Yukon, Missouri, Lenro Tune of Willow Springs, Missouri, and Nadine Boyle and husband, Bob, of Fraise, Minnesota; brother, Lindle Lee and wife, Cindy; sister, Elmo Louie Lee and husband, Bob; sister-in-law Mildred Lee; brother-in-law LeRoy Haeffner, and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins. Irene is also survived by 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and a host of many friends. Services were Monday, October 15, 2012 at 1:00 PM, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Emmett Bradford officiating. Burial was in Oakside Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Tune, Salem; son, Scott Tune and wife, Amanda, Strafford; brothers, Harold Tune and wife, Nancy, Salem; Paul Tune, St. Louis; David Tune and wife, Margie, Salem; Loretta McCarter, Salem; grandchildren, Kylie and Sydney Tune; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family and friends. Mr. Tune will lie in state from 5 to 7 p.m. February 2, 2010 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. February 3, 2010 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Tune Cemetery. Cards may be obtained at James & Gahr Mortuary.
VICTOR TUNE - Son of Bill Edd Tune and Velma E. Smith, was born Nov. 18, 1963 at Sycamore, DeKalb Co IL and died Mar. 27, 1999 in Texas. Preceding him in death are his grandfather William Tune, grandparents Eva and Claude Mash; great grandparents, Lawrence and Annie Lee and Matt and Elizabeth Brewington. Victor is survived by his father Bill Edd Tune; his Mother Velma Smith and husband Larry Dean; grandparents Irene Tune and Earnest and Bonnie Smith, two sisters, Vickie Hathaway and Michelle Bohannon; one brother, William Sean Tune. Burial at Oakside Cemetery, Summersville.
JUDGE B. B. TURLEY - Age 84, of Rolla, Mo., died on Jan. 10, 2008, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathryn Ann Turley; two sons, Bill and Mark; two daughters-in-law, Cindy and Julie; five grandsons; one granddaughter-in-law and four great-grandchildren. He served in the United States Army Air Corp from 1943 through 1946. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1953. He practiced law in Rolla, Mo., and served as Rolla Municipal Judge. He was elected Phelps County Associate Circuit Judge in 1978. He was re-elected three times and served in that position until his retirement in 1991. He was active in community affairs; was a member and past President of the Rolla Lions Club; and was a member of the City of Rolla’s Police Personnel Board for many years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008.
CAROL DEATHERAGE TURNER - Age 74, Peoria, IL - She passed away at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Eureka Hospital. She was born September 30, 1934, in Timber, MO, to Gilbert A. and Thelma N. (Lewis) Deatherage. She married Elbridge 'Ted' Turner on March 15, 1952, in Summersville, MO. Carol was a 1952 Summersville High School graduate. He survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Pamela (Eldon) Schlupp of Eureka; two sisters, Janet (Ralph) Turner of Summersville, MO, and Wanda (Jose) Martinez of Santa Cruz, CA; and three grandchildren, Aaron, Andrea and Alana. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Geraldine Villapiano. Carol retired from Chicago Title and Trust in 1983, after 20 years of service as a title search clerk. She was also a member of Second Baptist Church in Peoria and its SOUL Group. She sang in the choir at her church. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, at Davision-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Pastor Dr. Paul Maitland officiated. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial was in Olio Cemetery in Eureka. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Charles Leon Turner was born March 20, 1939 at Eminence, MO the son of Leland Turner and Dorothy (Dix) Turner. He passed away April 8, 2015 at Springfield, MO at the age of 76. Charlie was united in marriage to Shirley Sue Norton on April 6, 1957 at Winona, MO and to this union three children were born. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Leland and Dorothy Turner, his wife Shirley Sue Turner, one daughter Mary Beth Turner, and two brothers Bill Turner and Richard “Dickie” Turner. He is survived by one son Scott Turner and wife Josefina of Lavergne, TN; one daughter Alison Ulrich and husband Paul of Hobbs, NM, one half-sister Laura Lea Bolyard of Coulee City, WA; four grandchildren Stephen Turner of Memphis, TN, Jonathan Turner of Lavergne, TN, Autumn Ulrich of Bullhead City, AZ, and Alex Ulrich of Hobbs, NM; and a host of other family and friends. Charlie attended school in Eminence and Winona and graduated from Winona High School in 1957. He worked at the Ward’s Food Mart in Eminence after high school until 1962. Charlie served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964 as an MP based at Fort Bragg, NC. After his military service, he returned home to the area to be store manager of the Ward’s Food Mart in Eminence. Throughout the years, Charlie worked his way up to become a Vice-president with the Piedmont Wholesale Grocery Co. overseeing the operation of all the Ward’s Food Marts in the southeast Missouri area. Charlie and his family lived several years in Cape Girardeau, MO during this time. He moved to Poplar Bluff, MO in the early 1990’s briefly owning and operating his own grocery stores there before moving back to Winona and going to work at Tim’s Bestway in Eminence. Charlie retired in 2011, but came back to work part-time shortly thereafter. Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Charlie was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. |
Dorothy Dix Turner was born July 16, 1917 at Fruitville, MO to Percy Roy Dix and Ella (Orchard) Dix. She passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Mountain View, MO at the age of 94 years. She was united in marriage to Leland Turner on September 8, 1938 at Eminence, MO. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Percy and Ella Dix; husband Leland Turner; six siblings; two sons Bill and Dickie; and one granddaughter Mary Beth Turner. She is survived by one daughter Laura Lea Bolyard of Coulee City, WA; one son Charles Turner of Winona, MO; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. Dorothy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10:30AM at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO. She was united in marriage to Charles Leon Turner in Winona on April 6, 1957, and to this union 3 children were born. One daughter Mary Elizabeth Turner preceded her in death, also her mother and father Esther and Horner Norton. LEALAND TURNER - Born October 2, 1917 at Bunker, MO the son of Henry and Cora Alice Medley Turner and departed this life on November 20, 1987 at John Cochran V.A. Hospital in St. Louis, MO at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 18 days. He was married to Dorothy Dix on September 8, 1938 in Eminence, MO and to this union three sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bill and Dickie; two brothers; one sister; and one infant granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; one son, Charles of Cape Girardeau, MO; one step-daughter, Linda Lea Bolyard of Coulee City, Washington; four grandchildren and one great grandson; two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law. He served his country in WWII, serving in the European Theatre of Operations receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He accepted Christ as his savior in 1959 joining the Baptist Church in Winona. He was also a member of the V.F.W. of Eminence. Leland worked as a meat cutter for 47 years in Winona and Eminence. Funeral services were held Monday, November 23, 1987 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Eminence with Rev.'s Raymond Sconce and Frank Hall officiating. Burial was in New Eminence Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
Delmer Tuttle, son of Grover Tuttle and Annie Powell Tuttle, was born February 17, 1926 at Summersville, Missouri. Delmer went to his heavenly home, Saturday evening, January 10, 2009 while in the St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, making his age 82 years. Delmer was united in marriage to Ruth Stark, July 2, 1949 at Salem, Arkansas, and to their union, five children were born: Karen, Sharon, Ronald, Donald and Gary. Delmer served in the United States Navy from May 9, 1944 to January 21, 1946, during World War II. While in the service, he earned Asiatic Pacific five Stars; Philippine Liberation Bronze Star, and a Victory Medal. After the Navy, Delmer worked in St. Louis for about eight years, then moved the family to Summersville and bought a farm. He did a variety of jobs in this area, milked cows, cut cordwood, built fence, worked at the pallet mill and farmed, as long as his health would permit. Delmer was a long-time member of the Hartshorn Church of Christ and was currently attending the Church of Christ at Flat Rock. Delmer is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Annie; three brothers, Glenn Tuttle, Elmer Tuttle, and Gloster Tuttle; two sisters, Alice Jones and Gladys Tuttle, and a great grand-daughter, Hannah Johnson. Delmer is survived by his wife, Ruth Tuttle of Summersville, MO; two daughters, Karen McAdams and husband, Mike, of Summersville, MO; and Sharon Cook and husband, Jim, of Hartshorn, MO; three sons, Ron Tuttle and wife, Cathy; Don Tuttle and wife, Barb; and Gary Tuttle and wife, Candy, all of the Summersville area; 11 grandchildren, Kayanna Stiles and husband, Justin; Amanda McAdams; Christina Conner and husband, Michael; Keith Tuttle and wife, Kristin; Shari Tune and husband, Jason; Jamie Cook; Angie Johnson and husband, Chance; Jason Tuttle and wife, Desiree; Melissa Tuttle; Jessica Wilson and husband, Brian; and Waylon Tuttle; 12 great-grandchildren, Seth, Brookelynn, Anthony, Alex, Colton, Sam, Conner, Carson, Riley, Carlie, Kaithlyn and Isaac. Services were held Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Bradford Funeral Home with Brother Tom Dennis officiating. CHAD CURT TWYFORD - Son of Larry and Susie Marie (Franklin) Twyford was born December 24, 1981 in Longview, Texas and passed away due to injuries received in a motorcycle accident in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Friday evening Sept 19, 2008 making his age 26 years, 8 months and 25 days. Chad attended Mount Vernon Grade School and Junior High; after graduation from Junior High, the family moved to Houston, Missouri. He helped his dad, Larry, with carpenter work. He was working as a pipe-fitter and iron worker at Turner Industries. He enjoyed mechanical work, and loved to work on trucks, and cars. His favorite pastime was hunting, fishing and playing pool. He liked to spend time with his family and friends. Chad is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Ethel Franklin; and his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Flossie Twyford. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Susie Twyford of Cabool, Missouri; three brothers, Jason Twyford of Cabool, Missouri, Trevor Twyford of Camp Pendleton, California, and Ted Twyford and wife, Sallie, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; one sister, Laura Twyford, of the home in Cabool, Missouri; and nephew L. J. Twyford of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and his fiancee’, Tabitha Smith and her daughter, Natasha. Chad is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Services were held Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville, Missouri, with Rev. Steve Steelman officiating. Interment was in Union Chapel Cemetery near Eunice, Missouri under the care of Bradford Funeral Home.
