WILDERNESS CEMETERY

 

 Located at Wilderness, MO in northeast Oregon County.  From From Fremont, Carter County go south on Hwy J to Hwy K; then southwest to Wilderness.
County Rd 154 east. Sec. 32, Twp. 25, R.2W (King Twp). From Alton, MO go north on Hwy 19 about 9 miles to CR 154, go east (right) to CR 158, turn right and go to Hwy K.

Married 1) Georgia Augusta Whitten 18 Jan 1883 at Oregon Co MO; son William Alphus King. Married 2) Lockie Paralee Braswell about 1903; daughters Joyce & Ruby L. King.

 

King, David T. , Jr.     25 Dec 1869 - 15 Sep 1928.     Son of David T. King, Sr. (1845 - 1880) & G. M. Unknown (1845 - 1900).

 

King, David T.    Died 22 Sep 1923.     MO Death Cert.#27833: Age 52 yrs 8 mos 27 dys. Born AR; son of F. King (TN) & E. A. (looks like) Lock (AL). Burial 23 Sep 1923. Informant R. N. Simpson.

 

King, Elizabeth Narcissa V. (Leach/Lock?)    29 Aug 1840 - 12 Mar 1900.    Marker has 'Mrs. E. N. V. King'. Married William 'Finis' King. Mother of David T. King (1869-1923) and Robert Michael King (1874-1904).

 

King, Georgia Augusta Whitten    1859 - Abt. 1902.     Daughter of William Whitten & Rhoda Caroline Nicholson. Married David Thomas King on 18 Jun 1883. One son, William Alphus King.

 

King, Lockie Paralee Braswell     17 Feb 1860 - 02 Mar 1945.    Daughter of Lemuel Braswell & Elizabeth 'Betsy' Simpson. Mother of Joyce & Ruby L. King.

King, Robert Michael     Apr., 1874 - 1904.      Son of William 'Finis' King & Elizabeth Narcissa V. (Leach/Lock?). Born in Arkansas. Killed while felling a tree.
King, Sophrona Armentia 'Sophie' Whitten     07 Feb 1864 - 14 Nov 1937.     Daughter of William Whitten & Rhoda Caroline Nicholson. Married 1) Jesse W. Simpson 17 Jan 1884 in Oregon County; married 2) Robert Michael King on 05 Feb 1896 at Wilderness. Note: Her name is King on her death certificate and listed as a widow. She listed as Sophia Barnhart (widow) on the 1910 census. Burial 15 Nov 1937. MO Death Cert.#42049. Informant name looks like W. P. Simpson, Pittsburgh PA.

 

King, Ruby L.     12 Mar 1904 - 22 Aug 1905.     'Daughter of D. T. & L. P. King.' (David Thomas King & Lockie Paralee Braswell).

 

King, William Alphus    Born & died 06 Aug 1884.     Infant son of David Thomas King & Georgia Augusta Whitten.
