This family resided near Emminence MO. Parents of both Samuel and Sarah were killed during civil war by outlaws: Henry MARTIN and Julie BECK, John PURCELL and Sarah McHenry. I am seeking information on my ancestors, named PAYNE. They lived in Shannon Co., in the Birch Tree, Mo., area. I'm not sure if they were originally from Shannon Co. or not. My great-great-grandmother was Sina Elizabeth PAYNE, born in 1852. Her parents were Seaborn and Martha Ann ROSS PAYNE (he was born in 1819, she in 1828) Sina and her parents were all born in Weakley Co., Tenn.,but they used to travel back and forth to Shannon Co. all the time, visiting family. Sina's siblings were William Dudley, Fanny, Missouri, Nancy Ann, Mary Adeline, Pilemon and Alice Geneva. I know that Missouri and Alice Geneva lived in Shannon Co. Missouri was married to Lewis SMITH. Alice Geneva was married to James Luther MARTIN and they lived in Birch Tree, Mo. I am especially wanting to find out where the PAYNE family is buried. Sina is buried in Dukedom, Ky., but I cannot find when and where her parents are buried. Also, I am wondering whether my family was originally from Mo. and then moved to Tenn.
