NAME: David Pendleton
SURNAMES: GOWIN/GOINS/PENDLETON

I am working on geneology for my PENDLETON Family. One of our ancestors is buried in Eminence, MO. His name is James William PENDLETON. He died September 7, 1897. His father was Martin PENDLETON. I am told he was once a sheriff in Shannon county or his father was (This fact is not substantiated). He was married to Mary Ellen GOWIN (GOINS) and there is family in Poplar Bluff by that name. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

NAME: Jim Kidd
SURNAMES: KIDD/JEWELL

I am searching for a family of KIDDS. Father: Henry KIDD, Mother: Melinda JEWELL. Children: Wesley Columbus KIDD (oldest b.1883), Adam Alonzo KIDD, Lillian (Lillie KIDD), Ruthshell (Ruthie) KIDD (youngest b. 1894). One track was in the 1900 Census, Ripley Co.Mo. Henry was listed as a widower, (Melinda was still alive in 1894), born in Ohio in 1848, and his father (unknown) KIDD was born in Va., mother was born in Ky. Supposedly Adam was born in Summersville,Mo. in 1891, (Death Certificate information), and buried in Muncel Cemetery in Eminence, Shannon Co., Mo The last track was in the 1880 Census, Shannon Co. Mo. Henry was 29 and Melinda 19. Though they listed two children, Mary C. 9 and John 4, I am now fairly certain that Henry must have been married before. Of course, the children were too old for Melinda to be their mother. Apparently, living with Henry at that time were what must have been his mother-in-law, also named Malinda Jewell, a widow, age 55, and her son James L.Jewell, age 14. Others, in the family living there was Mary D. Jewell, (a widow), 22, who had a son William M.Jewell, age 1. Mary must have been Melinda Kidd's sister-in-law, (Malinda Jewell's daughter-in-law). In addition, my folks had a lot of connection with Angeline,Mo. It is no longer on the Missouri map. Where can I find out what happened to Angeline?

SURNAMES: SATTERFIELD     In 1870 Thomas SATTERFIELD (b. c1812 in SC), his wife Selina COX SATTERFIELD (b. c1815 in NC) were living at Barnesville, Shannon County, Missouri with some of their 12 children. In 1850 they were living in Reynolds Co., MO. I can't find them in 1860. Some of Thomas's brothers changed their names to SUTTERFIELD and Thomas may have too. Some of the children were living in Dent and Shannon County in 1880. Does anyone know anything of this family?

NAME: Stacey Orchard
SURNAMES: BOLDING/BOLIN/DAVIS/ORCHARD

I can honestly say that just about all the ORCHARDS from Shannon Co, are relatives! But I am searching for the family of Annie BOLDING who marrid my great grandfather James Shadrack ORCHARD on 4/14/1906. She was born 3-30-1885 in Shannon Co. Her sisters were Lizy (or Eliza), Mary Eveline "Evy", Sarah and Clementine (twins). Annie was the youngest. However, I do not know who her father or mother was. Annie died 11-21-1940 in Eminence and is buried at the Chilton cemetary. If anyone has any information, please email me or maybe someone has the time to look her up. I cannot find any Boldings listed. I was told that her father married a DAVIS woman but all I can find is a Cornelius BOLIN who married Margaret DAVIS. Maybe someone has the name spelled wrong. Can anyone help? Thank you!!!

SURNAMES: MAHAN, STORY, NESBIT, HAWKINS, MARCUS, LANCASTER, PLANK, SMOTHERMAN, LEDGERWOOD, COOK, BARNES, AKERS, SELLARS, ALLEY, HINES

Have been researching the MAHAN family of Shannon County for over 12 years with the intention of putting it in book form. The MAHANS were credited with being the first white settlers in Shannon County. My GGGrandfather was Samuel MAHAN Sr born in Indiana in 1826 married first Mourning MAULDING, second Elizabeth MARCUS, third Elizabeth KREPS. The MAHANS are listed in Wayne County in 1830 as MACHAN. So had to come to the area between 1826-1830. The two orginal daughters Grace and Jane married Jesse and Larkin STORY both born in Missouri. Therefore they may have actually been the first settlers as STORY's Creek and MAHAN's Creek ran into the Jacks Fork River on opposite sides. Am trying to find all related families to add to the book.
