WILLIAM EUGENE ‘BILL’ ROBERTS, JR. – Born September 9, 1959 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to William (Gene) Roberts and Betty June (Tucker) Roberts. He departed this life on January 30, 2006 at the age of 46 years in Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Roberts, his sister Rhonda Kay Roberts, one grandson Brey Anatone Barkley, and his son-in-law Nolan Anatone Barkley, Jr. Bill is survived by his mother, Betty June Roberts; three daughters and "Jeannie's son-in-laws" as he always put it, Miranda Barkley and Bill Lay, Billie and Red Brown, Laura and Mike Tripp, and one son William (Gene) Roberts III all of Winona, Missouri. 14 grandchildren all of which he never called them by their real names: Billy (Bull) Lay II, Brian (Mouth) Lay, Bethany (Gladis) Barkley, Shana (Sweet Pea) Lay, Keirsten (Sprout) Lay, Erin (Ebb) Barkley, Regan (Bertie) Brown, Isaac (Ikey) Barkley, Rylea (Little Bit) Brown, (Marna) Mia Hillian, Xander (Cheetoh) Lay, Drevin (Mikey) Tripp, Rowdy (Champ) Brown, and Blaydon (BLT) Tripp. His sisters and brother-in-laws; Glenda and Roger Burns, Brenda and Rex Counts, Betty and Clifford Needles, Becky and Jim Barnes, and Beverly Roberts all of Winona, Missouri. Other family and friends too numerous to mention. The lives he touched through out his journey will never be the same. We will all miss his smile, his laugh, his corny jokes, his funny names, his bear hugs, the fire and the fight that kept him going, but most of all how he held us all together. Bill Roberts will never be forgotten in the hearts and lives of all who knew him well. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Christian Church in Winona, Missouri. Officiating was Archie Taylor. Interment was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Winona, Missouri under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home.
