Cynthia June Dickerson Abeda - Born July 31, 1953 in St. Joseph, MO. She passed away January 20, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, MO at the age of 54 years, 5 months and 20 days. Cindy was the daughter of William C. (Bill), and June Alice (Copeland) Dickerson. She was welcomed with love and pride for their beautiful child. Cindy was a spiritual girl and woman, who loved all of God's beautiful things. Flowers and cats were her passions. Cindy was preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Copeland; grandfather Lewis Copeland; and mother June Alice Dickerson. She leaves behind her father and stepmother William and Darla Dickerson of Mountain View, MO; son Jason King of Kansas City, MO; daughter Shameriah King-Arzt of Mountain View, MO; son Jordan Abeda of Olathe, KS; three grandchildren, Sidney Michael King, Tye Ashton King and Reese Gabrielle Gilbert. Funeral services were held Friday, January 25, 2008 at 12:00 PM at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO with Pastor Brian Ingalls officiating under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Winona, MO.

BURGESS FRANKLIN 'BUD' ACORD - Born May 16, 1924 in Bloomfield, MO., to Robert and Dora Ellen (MCCLARD) ACORD. He passed away Nov. 4, 2002, at the VA Hospital in St. Louis, MO., at the age of 78 years. He was united in marriage to Della Geraldine 'Dobbie' LESLIE on Dec. 22, 1950 in Pocahontas, Ark. Two children were born to this union. Bud is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters and six infant siblings. He is survived by his wife Dobbie ACORD of Winona; one son, Tim ACORD and his wife Brenda, of Winona; one daughter, Alice WOODS and her husband Roger 'Chud', of Mountain View; six grandchildren, Tonya and Scott HULBERT, Stephanie Crystal WOODS, Jamie, Matthew and Lucas ACORD, and one special grandchild, Melanie POINTS COMO; two great-grandchildren, Sydney HULBERT and Justin GRIM; one brother, Oscar ACORD of Esterville, Iowa; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law (incomplete). Bud attended the Winona Christian Church and in previous years attended the First Baptist Church of Winona. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Winona Christina Church with Don CROCKETT and Loyd MATTHEWS officiating. HENRY C. ADAIR - Age 94, of Van Buren, Missouri, died Sunday, Marc 22, of a cerebral hemorrhage at the Doctors Hospital in Poplar Bluff.  Mr. Adair was a former school teacher and county judge of Shannon County. He had been a resident of Carter County for five years. He was born July 13, 1869 in Shannon County, and was married in 1893 to Henrie Layton, who died in 1936. In 1961 he was married to Mrs. Della Lehman of Van Buren, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Wilbur Adair of Vinita, Oklahoma, and five daughters, Mrs. Vera McClintock of Van Buren, Mrs. Thela Bell of Hayti, Mrs. Oneita Heger of Los Angeles, Thelma Singler of St. Louis and Mrs. Dixie Palmer of Wichita, Kansas, 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, J.S. Adair of Walters, Oklahoma, and J.W. Adair of Oklahoma City.  Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Van Buren, Tuesday, March 24, with Rev. Earl Kearbey officiating. Burial was in the Winona Cemetery with graveside rites by the Odd Fellows Lodge. McSpadden Funeral Service.

LILLIE WILKINS ADAMS - Born December 16, 1920 in Eminence, MO to William G. Wilkins and Lula Akers. She departed this life June 16, 2000 at Grapevine, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Vernon and Clinton Wilkins.  She is survived by two sons, Gordon Bryson and his wife Shirley of Southlake, Texas and Gerald A. Bryson and his wife Lynn of Lewisville, Texas; two daughters, Elinor Mitchel and her husband Daniel of Morena Valley, California and Ellene Albrecht and her husband Paul of Lake Park, Iowa, three brothers, Glenn Wilkins of Summersville, Doyal Wilkins of Arkansas, and Leland Wilkins of Rolla; three sisters, Thelma Warren of Colorado, Theo Price of Summersville, and Edna Engler of Kansas, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 326 of Grapevine. Funeral services were at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel Tuesday, June 20th at 2 p.m.  She was laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. 

LOUIS JUDSON ADAMS - Born at Salem, Missouri on February 14, 1924.  He was the son of Louis Cleveland and Alice (Cox) Adams, of Rector, Shannon County, Missouri, and grandson of Lewis Cass and Josephine (Blaine) Adams, formerly from Raymondville, Texas County, Missouri.  Judson's maternal grandparents were James M. & Sirena (Summers) Cox, and maternal great-grandparents were Andy J. and Sarah A. Summers. After graduation from Rector, and then Eminence High School, Judson enlisted in the Army during World War II, serving as a Tank Mechanic in the 9th Armored Infantry Btn. in Northern France, Central Europe, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Normandy.   He was awarded five (5) bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the Meritorious Service Unit Plaque. After his discharge from the Army on Dec. 5, 1945, Judson worked as a mechanic in Peoria, Illinois for International Harvester and later, in 1952, transferring to St. Louis. Judson was married October 10, 1953 to Jean Allen of Summersville. Children born of this union were Jackie Sue, (died in infancy),  Diana Ruth (Adams) Cross, St. Charles; Robert Dwain 'Bob', St. Charles; Louis James 'Jim', St. Louis; and William Joseph 'Bill', Clinton Twshp., Michigan. Judson worked as a Diesel Mechanic for International Harvester in St. Louis, then moved his family to St. Charles, where he worked for Willolita Transport until 1981, when he, Jean, and the youngest son, Bill, moved to their present home at Summersville.  There he continued working as a mechanic at Vaughn's Redi-Mix until his retirement.  He had been in ill health for several months and was engaging in home-dialysis through the Ozarks Medical Center at West Plains. Judson and Jean have seven grandchildren:  Matthew Cross, Lindsey and Brian Adams, Nichole and Danielle Adams, Connie Juras, and Erica Adams. Surviving extended family members are two sisters and husbands:  Minnie and Walter Bosedorfer, Clinton, Illinois and JoAnn and Lloyd Ellerman, Eminence, MO; Father and Mother-in-law, Edgar and Alma Allen, Summersville; two sisters-in-law and husbands, Carolyn and Wayne Terrill, Summersville, and Melba and Darel Baker, Raymondville, plus 14 nieces and nephews. Services were at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel, Summersville, with family friend, Rev. Carl Swiney of Willard, MO officiating.  Burial was at the Chrisco Cemetery, Hwy. NAOMI ELLEN BALLANCE ADAMS - Born Feb. 24, 1929, to Austin and Irene Ballance on Lower Rocky Community in Shannon County, MO.  She passed away at 2 pm Monday, Sept. 8, 1997, in Cox Medical Center South of heart failure. She was preceded in death by her father, mother; three brothers; and a sister. She leaves to mourn two sons, Johnny Hammond and Billy Adams; also a grandson, John Michael Hammond; two sisters:  Bernice Thompson and Geneva Koogler, both of Springfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends to miss and grieve for her. She knew the Lord and was a member of Hamlin Memorial Church. Services were held at 3 pm Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with the Revs. Calvin Mayberry and Mike Eckland officiating.  Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation was Wednesday from 7 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

RUTH MAY FANSLER AKERS - Born March 18, 1915 in Eminence, MO to Roy Sears Fansler and Rosey Vie (Nichols) Fansler.  She passed away July 2, 1997 at Oak Grove, MO at the age of 82 years. She was united in marriage on September 21, 1940 at Van Buren, MO to Anvil Glenn Akers.  Three sons and three daughters were born to this marriage. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Anvil; one brother and one sister. She is survived by her children: Roy Akers of Holden, MO, Joe Akers of Eminence, MO, and C.L. Akers of Winona, MO, Katherine Moorehead and Betty Wilson both of Buckner, MO, and Alice Brown of Eminence, MO; one sister, Lola Jean Barkley of Winona, MO; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Ruth was active for years in the Bethany Church and other area churches for her entire life. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 5, 1997 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence with Rev. Lloyd Welch officiating. Interment was in the Munsell Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence. 

UREL JUNIOR ALBERT - Born May 28, 1928 in New Liberty, Mo. He was 63 years old and the youngest of nine children born to Richard Zimriah Albert and Bessie Hurst Albert.  He passed away in his home on April 29, 1992. Upon returning from military duty in WWII, Urel married Vesta A. Weaver on May 15, 1948 in Salem, Ark. and four children were born to this union: Richard Edman Albert, Linda Denise Albert, Deborah Lynn Albert and John David Albert. Urel enjoyed various occupations, but his most satisfying career was being a professional entertainer.  Recording music, performing on television and radio, and performing live were the kinds of work he loved.  His performing career was highlighted by appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. Urel also made command performances for and was honored by the Missouri Congress for his talents.  In 1989 Urel was inducted into the Missouri Country Music Hall of Fame. Urel was a member of the Winona Christian Church.  His unique talent and humor will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife; four children; a sister, Velma Hicks; four grandsons; and five granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Marvin Albert, Ernest Albert, Earl Albert and Seth Albert; and three sisters, Jewel Ray, Kate Suggs and Opal Albert. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Winona Christian Church with Minister David Haynes officiating. Burial in Pine Lawn Cemetery at Winona. Arrangements were by Duncan Funeral Home, Winona. 

VESTA A. WEAVER ALBERT - Of Winona, Missouri, born February 3, 1930 at Winona, Missouri.  She was 67 years old and the youngest of five children born to Oscar E. Weaver and Mary D. Weaver.  She passed away in the home of her children on December l, 1997. Vesta married Urel Junior Albert on May 15, 1948 in Salem, Arkansas. Four children were born to this union; Richard Edman Albert, Linda Denise Albert, Deborah Lynn Albert, and John David Albert. Vesta is survived by her four children, their spouses, Bert Albert, Mike Burrell, John Counts, and Sandy Albert; nine grandchildren, Brent Hood, Richard Albert, Jr., John A. Counts, Jennifer Burrell, Julie Albert, Amy Albert, Seth Burrell, Emily Albert, Sarah Counts; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Hood.  She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Kuessner, Velma Allmon, and Vanell Miley.  Vesta was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Victor Weaver. Vesta's favorite activities were spending time with family and friends, camping on the Current River, and making people smile.  Her life was full of comfort and giving to all those who knew her. Vesta was a member of the Winona Christian Church.  She will be missed by all those who knew her.  She will be missed by all those with whom she spent her life. Donations may be made to Hospice or Winona Christian Church. 

GEORGIA JUNE HINES ALCORN - Born at Eminence, Missouri June 5, 1920, the daughter of George and Becca CHILTON HINES. She passed away on July 1, 2007 in her home at the age or 87 years and 26 days. Georgia was united in marriage to Ralph ALCORN on June 11, 1935. To this union 6 children were born; Dorothy Louise, Juanita Sue, Ralph Alfred, Judith Ann, Margie Pauline and Gary James. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Becca HINES, her husband Ralph ALCORN, her children, infant son Ralph Alfred ALCORN and Juanita DOWNEY. Her siblings, infant Beatrice HINES, Johnnie HINES, Mae HAYCRAFT, Jimmie HINES, Ethel HINES and Thela CAYLOR. She is survived by her children Louise and Ralph JOHNSON of Eminence, Missouri; Judy and Charlie LOOMIS of Birch Tree, Missouri; Margie and Doc TAYLOR of West Plains; and Gary and Mary ALCORN of Eminence, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 5 step grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Powell and Louise ALCORN of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister-in-law Pearl ALCORN HOWARD of Cheyenne, Wyoming; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Georgia retired as a supervisor of Angelica Uniform Factory after 23 years. She made many friends throughout those years, especially from everyone who worked in her unit. People still to this day come up to her and tell her “She hasn’t changed a bit.” She didn’t always know them by name at first, but she could never agree with them as she thought she had changed a lot since she had aged. Georgia professed her faith in Christ as a young girl, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eminence. She still attended church regularly as her health allowed. She was a respected member of the community and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She loved and was devoted to her own family as well as her many adopted-like family. We are comforted in knowing that we will all be joining her again in Heaven someday with our Lord and Savior. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 4th from 6-8pm at the Duncan Funeral Home in Eminence, Missouri and the funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday, July 5th at Duncan Funeral Home in Eminence with the Rev. Alan STRINGER officiating. ALMA IRENE HURT ALLEN - Age 83, of Summersville, MO, born December 12, 1914 in Pike County, Arkansas to William Joseph and Bertha (Blake) Hurt.  She passed away March 28, 1998 at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, MO after a massive heart attack and by-pass surgery. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Woodrow Hurt, Vernon Hurt; six sisters: twin infants, Wilma Milbratz, Virginia Hurt (inf.) Gladys Lawson, Icelene Wood; one granddaughter, Jackie Sue Adams, 2 great granddaughters, Melissa and Magan Cross, one son-in-law Judson Adams. Alma was married on November 18, 1933 at Salem, Dent County, MO to Edgar Burl Allen.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Walter M. Jenkins.  To this union were born three daughters:  Melba Baker and husband Darel, Raymondville; Jean Adams, St. Charles, and Carolyn Terrill and husband Wayne, Summersville. Surviving are:  husband, Edgar; three daughters, two sisters:  Glenna Smith, Salem and Lillian Cooley, Eminence.  Grandchildren:  Steven Baker and wife, Denise, Rolla; Ruth Cross and husband, Bruce, St. Charles; Robert Adams and wife, Laura, St. Charles; Diana Howerton and husband, Chris, Raymondville; Jim Adams, St. Charles, Bill Adams and wife, Jacqueline, Michigan; Buddy Terrill and wife, Karen, Summersville,  and Kelly Bell and husband, Tom, Houston; Nick and Clay Howerton, Raymondville, Courtney Terrill, Summersville. Phil Jester, Pastor officiating.  Interment was in the Chrisco Cemetery, near Twin Springs, in Shannon County under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home, Summersville, MO.

BESSIE BEA ALLEN NICHOLS - Age 65, of Lawrence, Douglas Co KS, died Monday, Aug. 5, 1996, at a Lawrence Hospital. She had worked at Penn House for 26 years until she retired in 1993 as a manager. She was born July 26, 1931, at Winona, Mo., the daughter of Earl and Daisy (ROBERTS) ALLEN. She married Clifford A. NICHOLS.  He died in April 1978. Survivors include one foster daughter, Nina BURTON, Lawrence, four sons, Charles NICHOLS, Lawrence, William NICHOLS, Portland, Ore., Calvin NICHOLS, Waynesville, Mo., and Donald NICHOLS, Lawrence; three brothers, Jerry Lee ALLEN and Ronald ALLEN, Mo, and Donald ALLEN, Ark.; her mother, Daisy ALLEN, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. EDGAR BURL ALLEN - Son of Perry Penn and Evaline (BREWER) ALLEN, was born November 4, 1910 at Annapolis, Iron Co MO, and departed this life on Sunday, December 27, 1998, at his home near Summersville, age 88 years, 1 month and 22 days. Edgar and Alma Irene HURT were united in marriage on November 18, 1933 at Salem Dent Co MO, and to this union three daughters were born: Melba, Jean and Carolyn. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Alma; brother Otis ALLEN, sister, Beulah BURKS; granddaughter, Jackie Sue ADAMS; and son-in-law Louis J. ADAMS; two great granddaughters, Megan and Melissa CROSS. Surviving are his daughters, Melba BAKER and husband Daryl, Raymondville MO; Jean ADAMS, St. Charles MO; and Carolyn TERRILL and husband Wayne, Summersville MO; 9 grandchildren: Steven and Denice BAKER; Chris and Diana HOWERTON; Bruce and Ruth CROSS; Bob and Laura ADAMS; Jim ADAMS; Bill and Jacqueline ADAMS; Wayne ADAMS; Wayne ‘Buddy’ TERRILL, Jr. and Karen; Tom and Kelly BELL; and Courtney TERRILL; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; three brothers, Everett ALLEN of Texas, Howard and Harold ALLEN of Illinois; two sisters, Eulah STRANGE and Viola BRAMBLE of Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Edgar became a timber and mill laborer at age fourteen, as well as plowing and planting crops on the family’s Iron County farm. In 1929 his family moved to Shannon County to find work for him, his father, and younger brothers in timber cutting and milling near the Current River. In 1933, when the timber mill closed, the ALLEN family moved to Bunker in Reynolds County to be near the Bunker-Culler Lumber Mill. Edgar began working for J. J. BAY’s Farm and Lumber Company, and continued working there until 1942. That same year he purchased his own team of bay horses. He and Alma and their two daughters moved to the Don Chrisco farm on Barren Fork Creek in Shannon County. Edgar continued to farm, also working with his own team in the timber, whenever a mill was located within reasonable driving distance from home. On April 14, 1945, near the end of World War II, Edgar, at age 35, was drafted into the U. S. Army. He left Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis and was sent to Kodiak AK, where he served at Fort Greeley until the end of the war. He was honorably discharged with the rank of PFC on August 13, 1946. After the war he returned to the farm on Barren Fork Creek. In 1948 he bought his first home property, on Highway Z at Summersville, where he was living at the time of his death. Always a gardener who loved to plow and plant each Spring, Edgar raised lots of vegetables during each of the fifty years spent on his farm at Summersville. In the early 1950s he went to work at Craig’s Charcoal Mill and worked there until his retirement. A punctual and regular attendant at church services, Edgar led the way in baptism for his family at the Summersville First Baptist Church on October 13, 1960, by the Rev. John COLBERT. He was dressed and leaving fir Sunday School during his last moments on earth on Sunday morning December 27, 1998. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Summersville Citizens Center, which delivered his lunch each day, or to the Chrisco Cemetery Fund. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at the First Baptist Church in Summersville, with Rev. Maurice ALLEN and Rev. Albert STEELMAN officiating. Interment was in Chrisco Cemetery on Hwy. A near Bunker, in Shannon Co MO. EFFIE MAY SCONCE ALLEN - Daughter of John and Mary Taylor Sconce, was born near Ravenden, Arkansas on May 11, 1893 and departed this life at her home near Riverton, Missouri on July 4, 1959 at the age of 66 years, one month and 23 days. In 1914 she was united in marriage to William A.
Allen at Eminence, MO. To this union three sons were born. She is survived by her husband of the home, one son Carl W. Allen of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, two grandsons, two granddaughters, two great grandchildren, and one brother, Ray Sconce of Eminence, MO. Also surviving is a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, Glen in infancy, and Howard G. during World War II, by her parents, and one brother, Wesley Sconce. Mrs. Allen was converted at an early age and was a faithful and loyal member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Riverton at the time of her passing. Funeral services were held at the Riverton Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Hull of Alton and Rev. D.E. Handling of Riverton officiating with burial in the Cave Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer. Esther Irene Griffin Allen - Daughter of Jasper P. Griffin and Laura Gertrude Ahatto in Nevada, Storey Co. Iowa on July 13, 1906, departed from us on June 17, 1966 at St. Francis hospital at Mt. View, Mo. at the age of 59 years 11 months and 4 days. Her death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage suffered earlier in the day. She spent much of her younger years growing up at Blue Earth, Minn. Latter she moved with her family back to Iowa and graduated high school at Bloomfield, Iowa. She later attended college at Olivet Nazarene College at Kankakee, Illinois. On Jan 5, 1937 she was united in marriage to Amel Augustus Allen at Danville, Illinois. He survives. They made their home in Iowa for several years and then moved to Shannon Co. Mo. To this union five children were born. Two sons and three daughters. Those preceding her in death were her father and two brothers Paul and Edwin. Also grandparents Simeon and Charity Griffin and Levi and Sarah Shatto. FRANKIE EUGENE ALLEN - Born July 27, 1945 in Granite City, IL to Carl and Mary Jane (HASTINGS) ALLEN. He passed away October 16, 1997 at University Hospital in Columbia at the age of 52 years. Frankie was united in marriage to Geneva Iline FISHER on May 1, 1964 in East Alton, IL and unto this union one child was born. He is preceded in death by one brother, James ALLEN. Frankie is survived by his wife Geneva Iline ALLEN; his parents, Carl and Mary Jane ALLEN; one daughter Sherrie CRIDER and her husband Donald of Winona, MO; one brother, Carl Lee ALLEN of Humble, TX; three sisters; Sue FERGUSON of Troy, IL; Judy HARLEN of Granite City, IL; Sandy MCDOWELL of Granite City, IL’ also three grandchildren; Christopher SMITH, Nicholas CRIDER, Natasha SMITH, and one step grandchild, Paige ATCHISON. Frankie was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was also a hardworking, devoted man, who will be missed. RUTH ALLEN - Born in Detroit MI on January 28, 1914 to Rachel and John ALLEN. She passed away January 6, 1999 at the Birch View Nursing Center at the age of 84. Ruth accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior at age 12. She became a home missionary in 1936 serving in the rural areas of northern Michigan. She taught Sunday School, Bible classes in homes, worked in Bible camps and taught Daily Vacation Bible School. Her father, a pastor, assisted in many of these classes. In 1949 she moved with her parents to Missouri, settling in Shannon County. Her father continued to assist her in the same work as carried on in Michigan. In 1952 Shirley FLETCHER joined Ruth as her father retired. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Joseph, Albert and Edgar ALLEN. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Hazel ALLEN of Michigan and Dorothy ALLEN of Florida. Also a number of nieces and nephews survive. Ruth was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church of Southfield MI and an associate member of Pilgrim’s Rest Church. It might be said of her as of the Apostle Paul: “I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge shall give me in that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” II Tim. 4:7 & 8. Ruth will be greatly missed by friends and family. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 1999 at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View MO. MAGGIE MARIE ANTHONY ALLMON - Born on June 17, 1911 to Andrew and Hester (Clark) Anthony, in Gardin, M0. She passed away on July 4, 1998 at the Mountain. View Health Care in Mountain. View, Mo. Maggie married Chester 'Bud' Guy Edward Allmon on December 26, 1926 at Van Buren, Mo and to this union seven children were born. Maggie is survived by four sons:  Doyle Edward Allmon of Seymour, MO; Dwain Allmon, of Mountain. Grove, MO;  Lowell Dale Allmon, of Eureka, MO, and Gordon H. Allmon, of Winona, MO.  One daughter, Charlotte Ann Martin, of Winona, MO.  Eleven Grandchildren, two-step-grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bud, one infant son, Richard Lee, two grandsons and three sisters. Maggie attended the Winona Assembly of God Church, when she was able. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Funeral Services for Maggie Allmon were held on Monday July 6, 1998 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, with the Rev. Dolman Roderman officiating.  Interment was in the Falling Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Winona. 

MYRTLE M. ROSS ALLMON - Born February 17, 1899 at Surprise, MO the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Julie Hill Ross and departed this life on May 1, 1989 at Birch View Nursing Center in Birch Tree, Mo at the age of 89 years. She was united in marriage to Rufus N. Allmon on March 16, 1918 in Oregon County, MO and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rufus, on April 13, 1980; two sons, Roscoe at age 5; and Dewey in WWII; Also, one brother and two sisters. She is survived by one son Ray Allmon and wife, of Jefferson City, MO; one brother, Everett Ross of Alton, MO; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Myrtle owned and operated a general mercantile and grocery store in Winona from 1933 to 1968. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 4 at 1 pm in the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Winona with Rev. David Meade officiating.  Interment was in Falling Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Winona. 

VELMA WEAVER ALLMON - Born in Winona, Missouri on August 18, 1926.  She was 71 years old and the third child born to Oscar E. Weaver and Mary D. Matthews.  She left this life on December 4, 1997 in Springfield, Missouri. Velma was formerly married to Ray N. Allmon, and two daughters were born, Mary Adele and Alice Rae.  She is survived by her two daughters and their families, David and Adele Weatherly and their children Senior Airman, Christopher Lincoln and Jessica Weatherly of Potosi, Missouri and Bob and Alice Buell and their daughter Jennifer Buell of Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Survivors also include two sisters, Virginia C. Kuessner of Winona and Vanell B. Miley of Forsythe, Missouri.  Remaining survivors include the many members of the Weaver and Norton families.  Velma was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Victor E. Weaver, and one sister, Vesta A. Albert both of Winona, MO. After graduating from Southwest Missouri State University with a degree in education, Velma taught in the Winona school system for thirty years before retiring.  She is included in the Who's Who list of Missouri Educators.  She was a member of Missouri State Teacher's Association and the Missouri School Library Association.  Velma was also a member of several clubs and organizations including the Winona Study Club, Eastern Star, and Friends of the Library.  She served on the Missouri State Library Board, and was instrumental in enhancing the Winona Library. Velma was a member of the Winona Christian Church, and will be missed by all those with whom she spent her life.  Donations may be made to the scholarship fund being established in Velma's honor at the Winona Savings Bank in Winona, MO or the Winona Library.

EATHEL MARIE ANDERSON - Daughter of the late James Henry Stark and Sarah Jane Dye Stark was born March 24, 1912 at Greenville, Mo. in Dade County and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Desoto, Mo. making her age 92 years 8 months and 29 days. She was united in marriage to Luther Allen Anderson, February 28, 1930 making their union together 43 years before Luther passed away in 1973. To this union 9 children were born, Goldie Marie Wallace; Genevieve A. Ellis; Doris F. Anderson; Eudell A. Anderson; Bob G. Anderson; Virgil G. Anderson; Rose L. Ballard; Beverly A. Kizer and James L. Anderson. Eathel lived in Summersville for many years, after she was unable to stay alone she move to the Desoto area. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and worked in the home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Eathel is preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Sarah Stark; her husband Luther, three children, Doris, Bob and Goldie; three brothers and six sisters. Eathel is survived by her children, Genevieve Ellis of Overland, Mo.; Eudell Anderson of Dora, Alabama; Virgil Anderson and wife Porsia of Cullman, Alabama; Rose L. Ballard and husband Bailey of Steelville, Mo.; Beverly Kizer and husband Victor of Hillsboro, Mo. and James Anderson and wife Nancy of Jonesboro, Arkansas; 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and one sister Ruth Tuttle of Summersville and a host of other family members.. EUDELL ALLEN ANDERSON - Son of the late Luther Allen Anderson and Eathel Marie Stark Anderson was born in Summersville, MO, July 24,1937 and passed away at the Community Care Center of Seville in Salem, MO, Friday, February 17, 2006 making his age 68 years. Eudell was united in marriage to Irma Gale, November 23, 1957 at Hartshorn, MO. To this union three children were born, Charles Allen, Charlene Irma and Evalena Gale. Eudell was later married to Wynell Thompson in June 1990 in Dora, Alabama. Preceding Eudell in death were his parents, Luther and Eathel, his wife Wynell, two brothers, Bob and Virgil, and two sisters, Doris and Goldie. He is survived by his children, Charles Anderson of Hartshorn, MO; Charlene Batstone and husband Ken of Salem, MO; Evalena Hollibaugh and husband Everett of Houston, MO; one brother James Anderson and wife Nancy of Jonesboro, Arkansas; three sisters, Genevieve Ellis of Overland, MO; Rose Ballard and husband Bailey of Steelville, MO; Beverly Kizer and husband Victor of Hillsboro, MO; five grandchildren, Myra Kay Anderson, Nathan Allan Anderson, Carla Anderson, Sara Jean Batstone, Crystal Leann Hollibaugh, a host of other family members and many friends. Eudell was most comfortable at work. He was a farmer, sawmill operator, mechanic, and did small engine repair. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He lived in Summersville and Hartshorn area most of his life. Then moving to Alabama in 1984 and where he worked with his brother Virgil in his logging business. After he became ill, Eudell moved to Salem, MO in April of 2005 for the remainder of his life. Services were held Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 11:00 Am at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with Rev. Emmett Bradford Officiating. MARTHA JANE SMITH ANDERSON - Born January 7, 1930 to Aaron R. Smith and Lottie Ann (Winningham) Smith at Mountain View, Missouri. She passed away June 23, 2006 at Springfield, Missouri at the age of 76 years. She was united in marriage to Leslie W. Anderson on January 2, 1949 at Summersville, Missouri and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron R. and Lottie Ann Smith. She is survived by her husband Leslie W. Anderson of Summersville, Missouri; her son Dickie Anderson of Mountain View, Missouri; her daughter, Ann Miller and husband C.L. of West Plains, Missouri; four grandchildren Brent Anderson and wife Gina of Mountain View, Missouri; Kip Anderson and wife Lindsay of Lexington, Kentucky; Jessica Schiwitz and husband Josh of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Erica Miller of Springfield, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Mackenzie Anderson, Ashley Taylor Schiwitz, Jaden Anderson and Riley Anderson; one brother Neal Smith and wife Jane of Adrian, Missouri; one aunt Mattie J. Wells of Mountain View, Missouri; and one uncle, Robert F. Smith of Summersville, Missouri. She worked at Padgett Hardware in Mountain View in her early years. She retired in 1995 from Angelica Image Apparel after nearly 40 years of service. She attended Midvale Pentecostal Holiness Church in Summersville. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting, cooking holiday dinners and spending time with her family. She was always ready and willing to serve others when the need arose. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor and will forever be missed. Although she is gone from this world, she left footprints that will never be removed from our hearts and memories. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Mountain View, Missouri. SHIRLEY ROSE FISK ANDERSON - Daughter of Benjamin Turl Fisk and Anna Elizabeth Knight Fisk, was born June 18, 1934 at Venice, Illinois and passed away at Cox Medical Center on Saturday morning, May 20, 2000 make her age 65 years 11 months and 28 days. She was united in marriage to Hugh N. Anderson August 1, 1959 making their union together 42 years.  To their union two children were born, Anna Elizabeth Anderson Crabtree and Hugh Neil Anderson Jr. Shirley became a member of the Order of Eastern Star Summersville Chapter 363 April 14, 1989 and was a member of Summersville United Methodist Church for many years.  She was a housewife and mother.  Shirley loved to sing and enjoyed music.  She especially loved to be  with her grandchildren who she loved very much.  She enjoyed animals and liked to watch them play.  Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Charles Ernest Fisk, Sr., Robert Hardford Fisk, Benjamin Turl Fisk Jr., Lawarren Kenyon Fisk and sister Bonnie Virginia Fisk Harbarch. Surviving are her husband Hugh Anderson of Mountain View Health Car, Mountain View, MO; two children, Anna Crabtree, Hugh Anderson Jr. and wife Gwen, five grandchildren; Benjamin Levi Crabtree, Lydia Cecile Crabtree, Dustin, Derrick and Tiffany Pobst, all of Summersville, MO, one brother Ty Fisk and wife Fannie of Madison, Illinois, and one sister Betty Sue Gay of Granite City, Illinois. Funeral Services and Eastern Star Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. JAMES CLINTON ARD - Born Dec. 3, 1958, son of Clinton James Ard & Etta Margaret Comely. He passed away at his home in Eminence on Dec. 13, 1997 at the age of 39 years. He is preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Jane Ard, and his grandfathers, Ray Ard and Cordell Comely. James is survived by his parents, Clinton and Etta Margaret Ard of Eminence, brother Jerry Dale and wife Tara of Eminence, sisters Donna Damouth and husband Rob of Salem, and Jennifer Ferguson and husband Tracy of Eminence; four nephews, three nieces, his grandmothers, Alma Ard of Eminence and Ellen Comely of Salem, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He professed Christ as his Savior at an early age. James will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 1 pm Monday Dec. 15, 1997 at Duncan Funeral Chapel of Eminence with Rev. Carl Younger officiating. Ralph Lee Arl - Son of the late Ola Patterson Arl and Lewis Arl was born at Sweetwater, Missouri on January 24, 1930. He departed this life at his residence in Eminence, Missouri, on November 20, 2007, having attained the age of 77 years, nine months and 27 days. On August 15, 1953, Ralph was united in marriage to Glenna Grogan. Ralph later married Joyce Mitchell on March 28, 1969, she preceded him in death on December 29, 1994. Ralph loved working with wood, he built cabinets, stools and anything made of wood. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Lee Arl. Ralph is survived by his special friend, Nan McClanahan of Eminence, Missouri, three daughters, Glenda Rosa and husband Stephen of Richwoods, Texas, Rhonda Crafton and husband David of St. Louis, Missouri, Susan Glaus of Perryville, Missouri. Four Stepchildren: Tommy McClanahan of Eminence, Missouri, Jeff McClanahan of Mountain View, Missouri, David McClanahan of Ellington, Missouri, Jessy Huett of Mountain View, Missouri. Two brothers: Jim Arl of Rolla, Missouri and Walter Arl of Corridon, Missouri. Four sisters: Ruth Gray of Corridon, Missouri, Grace Johnson of Salem, Missouri, Martha Baker and Edith Callahan both of Ellington, Missouri. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Five step grandchildren. Ralph is also survived by special employee, Chink. Ralph will be deeply missed by his family and many friends who will mourn his passing. REV. ARNOLD R. 'ARNIE' ARMSTRONG - Son of Elmer and Nina Mae (Foust) Armstrong was born August 24, 1924 in Wabeno, Wisconsin and passed away March 21, 2004 in Elizabethtown, Illinois, after a lengthy illness. Arnie was united in marriage to Betty Lytle in 1944 in Laona, Wisconsin. To this marriage two daughters were born, Sarah and Mary Jane. After Betty's death, Arnie relocated in Elizabethtown, Ill., where he met and married Rachel Conn. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Nina; his first wife Betty; infant daughter Sarah, daughter Mary Jane Carter; brothers, Clayton, Howard and James; infant sisters Elvira and Helen; and son-in-law Harley Carter. He is survived by his wife Rachel of Elizabethtown, Ill.; granddaughter, Paige Carter of Friendship, Tenn.; sisters, Dorothy Hargraves of Colby, Wisc., Joyce Haynes and husband Vernon of Winona, Hazel Armstrong of Winona, G. Jean Armstrong of Eminence; sister-in-law, Sue Armstrong of Aurora, Ill.; step-sons, Dennis Cann of Evansville, Ind., and Dexter Cann of Cave-In-Rock, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arnie worked at Conner's Mill in Laona, Wisc., before moving to Winona in 1946, where he worked at Birch Tree Flooring Mill. In 1963, he went into the ministry and after four years at Pineville Baptist Seminary, he was ordained. He preached in Oak Grove Baptist Church near Birch Tree and Kings Mountain Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, Ky., until settling in Elizabethtown, Ill. After his retirement from the ministry, he continued to preach when called upon in the area and worked with the Illinois Forestry Service. Arnie enjoyed the outdoors and loved gardening, fishing, hunting, camping and collecting rocks and minerals. He was a loving, kind and caring person. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday March 24 at First Baptist Church in Cave-In-Rock, Ill. BILLY RAY ARMSTRONG - Son of Carl and Winnie Whittaker Armstrong was born March 14, 1936 in Rienzi, Mississippi and passed away at the Christina Health Care in Springfield, Mo., Monday, April 10, 2006 at 5:40 p.m. after a short illness, making his age 70 years and 27 days. He was united in marriage to Virginia Evans June 14, 1955. His children are Michael, Tywanna, Karen, Ronnie, Billy, Lori and Joni. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Winnie, his wife Virginia, and two children, Michael, and Lori, one brother Marvin and one sister Sue. Bill is survived by his children, Tywanna, Karen, Ronnie, Billy, and Joni and four brothers, Melvin, Earl, Jim and Clinton. Delphia green  Armstrong - Daughter of Charlie A. and Martha I. Cross Green, was born Aug. 15, 1919, near Birch Tree. She died Feb. 20, 2008, at Rocky Ridge Manor at Mansfield. A lifelong resident of Texas County, she operated a boarding home at Houston for a number of years. She was a member of the Hamilton Creek Church near Cabool. Mrs. Armstrong enjoyed crocheting and tending her flower gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Marion Dodson and Perry Armstrong; five brothers, Andy, Arngie, Albert, Melvin and Charley Green; and two sisters, Bessie Brim and Melba Cooper. She is survived by a brother, Harvey Green of Fort Scott, Kan.; and a nephew she raised, Albert Lee Green of Strafford. Services were Feb. 26 at the Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home Chapel in Cabool with the Rev. Joe Wright officiating. Burial was in the Central Baptist Cemetery at Houston. 

ELMER ARMSTRONG - Born September 25, 1895 in Barron, Wisconsin the son of Hoarse and Bertha Armstrong and departed this life on December 27, 1985 at the age of 90 years and 3 months, after a short illness. Elmer was united in marriage to Nina Foust on September 20, 1915 in St. Paul, Minnesota and they had 68 happy years together.  To this union 10 children were born. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Nina; two sons, two daughters, and three grandchildren. He leaves as survivors, two sons, Arnold Armstrong of Elizabethtown, Ill.; James Armstrong of Aurora, Ill.; four daughters, Dorothy Hargraves of Colby, Wisc.; Joyce Haynes of Winona, Mo.; Hazel Armstrong and Jean Armstrong, both of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Winifred Armstrong of St. Anna, Calif.; ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. Elmer gave his life to Christ at an early age and has been a faithful inspiration to his family and friends throughout  his life and a member of the First Baptist Church of Winona, Mo. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 31,  1985 at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Winona, Mo.  Services were officiated by Rev. Frank Hall.  Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Winona, Mo. under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home.
 
Floyada Margetta 'Flo' Blurton ARVIN - Born July 24, 1908 at Pittsburg, KS., the daughter of Alfred and Ethel Draper Blurton and departed this life on Aug. 15, 1989 at the home of her granddaughter, Marie Jenkins in Queen City, TX., at the age of 81 years, and 22 days. She was married to Samuel Otis Arvin on Oct. 31, 1926 and to this union 10 children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, and two sons. She is survived by three daughters, Lila Hopkins and husband, Arnold of Oil City, LA., Thelma Alexander of Mountain View, MO. And Eve Arvin of Queen City, TX,; five sons, Sam and wife, Della of Kansas City, Ks., Bill and wife Sue, of Bossier City, LA., Howard and wife Sandy of Kansas City KS., Donald of Queen City, TX. And Joe Arvin of Rolla, MO.; 35 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and two great great grandsons; two sisters, Opal Robards of Jay, OK. and Elizabeth Collins of Wichita, Ks.; and a host of other relives and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Graveside services were held Fri. Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. in the Montier Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral home of Birch Tree.

Gary Gene Arvin - Born September 21, 1965, passed away April 20, 1969 after an illness of less than 48 hours. Gary, the son of Joe and Malissa Arvin, was born at Birch Tree. The family now resides at Doniphan, Mo. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, and four sisters, and also his grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. Otis Arvin and Charlie Wade of Birch Tree, Mo. Burial was at Montier Cemetery with Duncan Funeral Home in charge of services.

Malcom Wayne Arvin - Stillborn son of Mike Arvin and Jaclyn Renee Cornwall Arvin went to be in the arms of Jesus, Monday, July 26, 2004. Malcom was much loved and anticipated by his sisters, Mika and Mariaha. Malcom will be met in heaven by his paternal grandparents, Joseph Arvin and Melissie Wade Arvin Mitchel. Malcom will be mourned by his parents, Michel and Jaclyn, his two sisters, Mika and Mariaha, his maternal grandparents, John and Judy Cornwall, all of the Summersville area, several aunts and uncles and many cousins. Matthew: 6-9-13 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and glory, for ever. Amen. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Montier Cemetery in Montier under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home Summersville.

MARNA WILLIAMSON ASHER - Of Winona, Mo. passed away Nov. 3, 1984 at Doctor's Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Mo. at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 3 days. Marna was the daughter of Corwin and Jennie Pargin Williamson and was born March 20, 1902 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was united in marriage to Dewey Asher October 12, 1929 in Dexter, Mo.  To this union two sons and one daughter were born. She became a member of the Winona Christian Church March 29, 1959.  She was active in the church until failing health prevented her from attending. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother; her husband, Dewey and an infant daughter. Surviving are her two sons, Connie and Esta Mae of Winona, Mo., Commander Charles and wife, Cordie of Chesapeake Bay, Va.; one grandson, Dennis and wife, Yvonne of Phoenix, Az.; four granddaughters, Cathy Brawley and husband, Kenny of Phoenix, Az., Sheila Asher of Athens, Georgia, Benita and Larissa Asher of Jacksonville, Florida. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. in the Winona Christian Church with Jack Stephens officiating.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery at Poplar Bluff, Mo.  Under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Winona. 

FLORA M. WHITE ATCHISON - Born on March 10, 1921 at Carterville, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Normor Conley White.  She  departed this life on July 23, 1994, in Westwood Nursing Home in Clinton, Missouri, at 73 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry, in December 1987; a daughter, Judith, in February 1976; one sister; and two brothers. She is survived by four sons, Charles D. of Lake St. Louis, MO; James D. of St. Charles, MO; Thomas L. of Eminence, MO; and John W. of Summersville, MO; two daughters, Norma J. Weikal of Troy, MO and Nora Lee Jackson of Deepwater, MO; three sisters, Lenore Hoena of Mesa, AZ; Hattie Atchison of Pueblo, CO; and Sophronia Bland of Winona, MO; and many grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 26, 1994, at 1 p.m., in Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence with Rev. John Atchison and Rev. Bob Smith officiating.  Interment was in Munsell Chapel cemetery near Eminence, under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence. 

George 'Bobby' Atchison - Born on March 10, 1928 at Big Creek in Shannon County, MO, the son of William Richard Atchison and Mary Magdalene (Conley) Atchison. He passed away August 19, 2008 at Rolla, MO at the age of 80 years and 5 months. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Pearl Conner at Piggott, AR and to this union 4 children were born and one son was adopted. He is survived by three children Beverly Ann Atchison of Salem, MO, Barbara Jeane Saylor and Carl Alfonso Atchison of Eminence, MO. He was very proud of his 4 granddaughters Johnna Zuch, Chelsey Atchison, Mahaley Atchison, Lynnsey Atchison and one great grandson Calvin Zuch. He was preceded in death by Genevieve, one son George Earl and one daughter Wanda Catherine. Bobby was born into a large family of nine children and had four half brothers and one half sister. He is survived by brothers Lee Atchison of Mountain View, MO, Eual Atchison of Eminence, MO, Emott Atchison of Winona, MO and Vernon Atchison of St. Louis, MO and two sisters Shirley Conner of Eminence, MO and Mary Lou Coughlin of Pueblo, CO. He was preceded in death by his three half brothers and half sister, also his brothers Floyd Atchison of Las Vegas, NV and Kenneth "Doc" Atchison of St. Louis, MO. He later married Wilma and acquired five stepdaughters and numerous grandkids. Bobby worked most of his adult life in St. Louis, MO at Hill Behan Lumber Company. After suffering health problems he retired to St. James, MO where he built his home and enjoyed trail riding and trout fishing. He was never tired of having family; friends and neighbors stop by to visit. He is at rest now after suffering numerous heart attacks, an injury from his horse that he loved and cancer. Funeral services were held Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence, MO with Rev. Sam Upton officiating. Interment was in Flat Rock Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence, MO.

HENRY ADAM ATCHISON - Born November 7, 1913 in Timber, MO, the son of William Richard and Annie Meade Atchison and departed this life on March 12, 1987 at St. Luke's Hospital-West in Chesterfield, MO at the age of 73 years. He was united in marriage to Flora Madeline White June 7, 1941 in Eminence, MO and to this union seven children were born. He is survived by his wife Flora; his step-mother, Mary Fisher of Eminence; four sons:  Charles D. and Thomas L. Atchison of Eminence, MO; James D. Atchison of St. Charles, MO; and John W. Atchison of Pocahontas, AK; two daughters;  Norma J. Weikal of Troy, MO and Nora Lee Jackson of Deepwater, MO; eight brothers;  Lawrence of Baldwin, MO; Lee of Pueblo CO; Floyd of Las Vegas, NV; George of Salem, MO; Vernon and Kenneth both of St. Louis, MO; Eual and Emmett both of Eminence, MO; two sisters: Shirley Conner of Eminence, MO and Mary Lou Coughlin of Pueblo, CO; 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Judith Ann Atchison, one grandson, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held Monday, March 16 at 10:00 am in the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence, MO with Rev. Ralph Morrison and Rev. John W. Atchison officiating.  Burial was in the Munsell Cemetery at Eminence under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence. 

LAWRENCE ALLEN ATCHISON - Son of William Richard Atchison and Annie (Mead) Atchison, was born April 6, 1917 on Big Creek in Shannon County, Missouri. He was blessed with two sisters, Nellie and Minnie; three brothers, Henry, Willie and Paul. His mother, Annie, and his oldest sister Nellie, both died in the flu epidemic during World War I. Later, Lawrence was blessed with a precious step-mother, Mary Conley and along came seven more brothers, Eual, Lee, Floyd, George 'Bobby', Ematt, Vernon and Kenneth and two more sisters, Shirley Conner and Mary Lou Coughlin. On December 22, 1938 Lawrence married Reba Conway, daughter of Tom and Anna Bell Conway. They were blessed with one daughter, Anna Fay Thomason, who passed away on February 26,1986. Preceding him in death was his father, mother, daughter, stepmother, five brothers Henry, Bill, Paul, Floyd and Kenneth; two sisters Nellie Atchison and Minnie Conley and one stepsister, Shannon Dillard. Those left to mourn his passing are his precious wife of 67 years. Reba; five brothers, Eual Atchison of Eminence, Missouri; Lee Atchison of Mountain View, Missouri; George 'Bobby' Atchison of St. James, Missouri; Ematt Atchison, of Eminence, Missouri and Vernon Atchison of Bridgeton, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Conner of Eminence, Missouri and Mary Lou Coughlan of Pueblo, Colorado; one brother-in-law, Cecil Conway of Salem, Missouri; son-in-law, Bert Thomason and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and precious friends. Lawrence received Christ as his Savior at the age of 16. He has been a member of Salem Christian Church since moving to Salem from Ballwin, Missouri in May 1987. In October 1943, Lawrence was inducted into the United States Army. He served three years in Europe and the Pacific. He was entitled to wear several ribbons including American Theater Campaign Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, one overseas service bar, Victory Ribbon ASR Sxare, 41 Philippine Liberation Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal and 229 General Hospital. Lawrence served in France, Belgium and Japan. He was a T4 Sergeant. Lawrence was a wonderful man who will be sadly missed by all who cared for and loved him.

MEEKIE  FAY CHRISCO ATCHISON - Of Clifton, died of natural causes January 21 at the Palisade Living Center.  She was 91. Services were January 25 in the Assembly of God Church, Clifton.  Revs. James Brown, Jasper Weaver, Robert Wilson and grandsons John Atchison and Randy Hall officiated.  Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Atchison was born September 10, 1905 to Albert and Louisa Chrisco in Alton, Missouri. She married Charles Lee Atchison January 3, 1927 in Eminence, Missouri. He preceded her. Mrs. Atchison had been a resident of Clifton for 60 years. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law:  Kenneth and Barbara Atchison, Benton, Arkansas; and Emery and Myrna Atchison, Palisade; two daughters and sons-in-law:  Eileen and Nolie Covey, Palisade; and Marlene and Ray Hall, Collbran; one sister-in-law, Eva Chrisco, Grand Junction; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is further predeceased by a son William A. Atchison. Martin Mortuary in charge of arrangements. In memory of Meekie Fay Atchison as submitted by nieces and nephews: Fay Holland, Virgil and Linda Chrisco, Fred and Judith Mooney, Terry and Carol Chrisco, Ron and Norma Huffman. 

Virgie Mae Stewart Atchison - Born May 19, 1920 at home in Hartshorn, MO to Oscar Arthur Stewart and Bessie Ellen Day Stewart. Virgie passed away at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO, Tuesday evening, June17, 2008, at the age of 88 years and 28 days. Virgie was united in marriage to Glen Edward Atchison, February 3, 1940, making their union together 38 years before Glen passed away July 20, 1978. Virgie taught 2 years at rural schools, one year at Hartshorn, then 1 year at Low Wassie. When World War II started, she went to be of service to her country, working in small arms manufacturing. Virgie worked at Wagoner Electric in St. Louis; after retirement she moved to Houston, MO. She was a member of the Houston Assembly of God, where she was faithful to do anything, she could, to be of service. She loved to visit with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Glen, her parents, Oscar and Bessie Stewart, 4 brothers, James, Paul, Elmer, and Everett, 2 sisters, Ethel Farrow and Velma Kirkman, 2 sisters-in-law, Pearl and Virginia; and 2 brothers-in-law Dwayne and Bert. She is survived by 2 brothers, Ervin Stewart of Houston, MO; and Don Stewart of Hartshorn, MO; 2 sisters-in-law, Juanita and Geraldine. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved and spoiled. She is also survived by a host of other family members. Services will be held Friday June 20th, 2008 at 2 PM at Bradford Funeral Home in Summersville with Rev. David Meade officiating. Interment will be in Summersville City Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home.

CARMAN GALE ATKINS - Daughter of Ronnie D. ATKINS and Lori Noma (HORNER) ATKINS, was born April 20, 1984 at Poplar Bluff, Butler Co MO, and died August 18, 2001 at Springfield, Green Co MO. She is survived by her parents, Ronnie and Lori ATKINS; one brother, Jason N. ATKINS; her grandfather, Bob ATKINS; and her grandparents, Don and Melba HORNER. Carman is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery at Winona Shannon Co MO.  

CLAUDE BEDFORD 'BUCK' ATKINS - Born October 24, 1915 in Shannon County, Missouri to William Atkins and Cynthia Jane (LaRue) Atkins.  He departed this life on January 13, 1995, at 11:25 am, in Birch View Nursing Center in Birch Tree, MO, at 79 years of age. Claude married Gladys Irene Goforth and they lived their lives together for over forty five years.  To this union one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents;  one son Norman; one daughter, Mary Lou Cooley;  two brothers, Chester and Marshall; and one sister, Madge Burns.  He is survived by his wife, Gladys, of the home at Winona, MO; one daughter, Beverly Hollis of Winona;  three step-daughters, Barbara Stearns of Joplin, MO; Patsy Sigler of St. Louis, MO; and Wanda Wakefield of Winona, MO; five sisters, Alma Spaulding of Cape Girardeau, MO; Mattie Van Winkle of Winona, MO; Marie Nash of Eminence, MO; Wave Dailey of Winona, MO; and June Patterson of Birch Tree, MO; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, January 16, 1995, at 1 pm in Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO with Rev. Glen Hampton officating. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery at Winona, under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Winona. 

GLADYS GOFORTH SKAGGS ATKINS - Born November 20, 1916, in Shannon county, MO, to Bill GOFORTH and Cynthia Flourinda (HERRON) GOFORTH. She passed away September 13, 2001, at the St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View at the age of 84 years She was united in marriage to Claude “Buck” ATKINS who preceded her in death on January 13, 1995. Gladys is also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sharren Kay; one brother and two sisters. She is survived by four daughters, Barbara STEARNS of West Plains, MO, Patsy SIGLER of Joplin, MO, Wanda WAKEFIELD of Winona, MO, and Beverly HOLLIS of Winona, MO; thirteen grand children and one brother, Roy LaVaughn GOFORTH of Fenton, MO. Gladys will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held at 1 PM Saturday, September 15, 2001, at Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona with Rev. HARLEY OTIS ATKINS - Born December 19, 1897 in Shannon Co. MO, the son of John and Maranda (LARUE) ATKINS and departed this life on August 11, 1992 at Mountain View Health Care at Mt. View, MO at the age of 94 years. He was united in marriage to Thelma Gertrude DEWEESE on March 30, 1918 at Eminence, MO and to this union ten children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, two grandchildren, one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, of Mt. View, MO, three sons; Fred and Bob ATKINS, both of Winona and Rex ATKINS of Hannibal, MO; six daughters; Lorene MYERS, Donna BRESSLER and Betty McINTIRE, all of Winona, Aileen VOYLES of Alton, Avanell SALLEE of Sinclair, WY and Nedra HOLLAND of Hugh Ridge, MO; thirty five grandchildren, sixty-six great grandchildren and forty-two great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 13, 1992 at 10:00 am in the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Winona with Rev. Robert Sneed officiating. Interment was in Mt. MIRANDA ELLEN 'RANDY' LARUE ATKINS - Born in Maries County July 20, 1876 to James LaRue and Susan Carter; departed this life at the age of 88 years from causes incident to old age, Feb. 22, 1964, at the Knox Rest Home at Salem MO. She was united in marriage to John Henley Atkins in the year 1891 at Winona, and to this union 7 children were born, 5 of whom are still living: Harley Atkins, Betty Sherrick and Macie Voyles, all of Winona; Cleo Doman of Craig CO, and Jo Atkins of Rolla MO. Other survivors are 23 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Minie Shell of St Louis and Mrs. Ruth Van Winkle of Sweetwater OR, and many nephews and nieces. She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Winona in the year 1944 and was strong in the faith all of her active years. She will be sadly missed by all her relatives and friends. Interment was at Mount Zion Cemetery at Winona. Submitted by Norma Myers Stevenson.

MARSHALL RAY ATKINS - Son of William and Cynthia Atkins, was born December 6, 1906 at Winona, Mo., and departed this life at home August 15, 1982, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 9 days, after a lingering illness. Marshall, who everyone knew as 'Mock',  was united to Ora Huddleston in Holy Matrimony at Winona, Mo., December 20, 1930, and to this union two children were born.  He was preceded in death by both mother and father, one brother, Chester, and one sister, Madge Burns.  He leaves his wife, Ora, of Winona, one son, Gary Atkins, of Winona, one daughter, Gearleen Bruce of Winona, one brother, Claude Atkins, Winona, five sisters, Alma Spaulding of Cape Girardeau, Marie Nash of Eminence, June Patterson, Birch Tree, Wave Dailey and Mattie Van Winkle of Winona, and a host of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Everyone knowing Mock knew his personality of loving everyone and in return was loved by all.  He was able to be home, which he loved so much and desired to be in the last part of his illness due to all the tender loving care of his wife, son, daughter, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law, whom he loved as his own, and the thoughtfulness of so many friends. Being the loving husband and father he was, he will be so sadly missed, and each fond memory will be cherished forever.

Nicholas Brian 'NICK' Atkins - Born February 26, 1967 at Alton, MO the son of Fred DeWeese Atkins and Glenda Sue 'Susie' Turner Atkins. Nick passed away October 2, 2008 at Winona, MO at the age of 41 years. He was united in marriage to Jessica Barkley in November 1987 at Falling Springs, MO and to this union one son, Stormy Atkins was born. Nick was preceded in death by his father Fred Atkins on February 19, 2003. Nick is survived by his son Stormy Atkins of Winona, MO; his mother Susie Atkins of Winona, MO; one sister Angie Atkins of Eminence, MO; one brother Mark Atkins and wife Patricia of Alton, MO; his grandmother Vida Turner of Alton, MO; nieces and nephews Candi Douglas of Eminence, MO; Tiffany Yardley of Winona, MO; Amanda Gates of Little Rock, AR, Brianna Atkins, Trevor Atkins and Autumn Atkins all of Alton, MO; great nephews Gage Yardley of Winona, MO and Landen Spoonmore of Eminence, MO; and a host of other relatives and friends. Nick had a kind and gentle spirit. He loved old cars and motorcycles. He loved to ride his Harley, and his favorite saying was "Born to be Free". Nick enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting arrowheads. Nick was a loving and caring person who always put others before himself. He was always there for anyone who needed help. Nick loved his family, and was a wonderful father, son and brother. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Arrangements were under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Winona, MO.

THELMA GERTRUDE DEWEESE ATKINS - Born on February 4, 1900 in Shannon County, MO to Henry B. DEWEESE and Alice Doranda (HUDSON) DEWEESE. She passed away on May 8, 1993 in Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View, MO at 93 years of age. She married Harley Otis ATKINS on March 30, 1918 in Eminence, MO, and to this union four sons and six daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 11, 1992; one infant son, two grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by three sons, Fred and Bob ATKINS of Winona, MO; Rex ATKINS of Hannibal, MO; six daughters, Lorene MYERS of Winona, MO; Aileen VOYLES of Alton, MO; Donna BRESSLER, Betty MCINTIRE and Avanell SALLEE of Winona, Mo; and Nedra HOLLAND of High Ridge, MO; one brother, Herald DEWEESE of Eminence, MO; 35 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, 49 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great- grandchild. She was a charter member of the Assembly of God Church at Winona, MO. Funeral services were held on May 11, 1993, 10 am, in Duncan's Funeral Chapel in Winona with Rev. Robert SNEED and Rev.
