Louie Ray Welch was born in Dent County on July 17, 1910 to Preston and Ida (Daughtery) Welch. He departed this life June 3, 1997 at Houston, Mo, having reached the age of 86 years and 10 months. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Edwards on September 28, 1832. To this union seven children were born, five boys and two girls.
Louie was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sons (Larry and Lee), three sisters, five brothers, wife Dorothy, and second wife Delcia.
He is survived by three sisters; Mary Mahan of Fremont, MO; Crystal Siengbold of London, Kentucky; and Easter Clark of Boston, Massachusetts. Five children, Ray Welch and wife Shirley of Salem, MO; Viola Nichols and husband, Gene, of Eminence, Hazel Fox of Eminence; Alonzo Welch and wife Marcia of Wausau, Wisconsin; Anvil Welch and wife Bobbette of Joplin, MO; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Louie accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1972. He enjoyed digging roots, farming, and gardening. His best times remembered by his children and grandchildren are his playing games with them.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Friday, June 6, 1997 at the Duncan Funeral Home in Eminence with Rev. Bud Younger officiating. Interment was in the Bethany Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
