Arthur Pogue, the son of Wiley Pogue and Charity Chitwood, was born January 5, 1897 at Dagonia, Mo. in Reynolds County. He passed away March 4, 1982 at the Reynolds County Memorial Hospital, Ellington, Mo. at the age of 85 years, 1 month, 27 days. He attended school at Lone Cedar on upper Logan. Arthur was a World War I veteran. He moved to Little Shawnee in April, 1915. He lived the remaining years of his life here with the exception of about 4 years when he worked in St. Louis. He was united in marriage to Alma Woodward January 29, 1922 at Jacks Fork, Mo. by Rev. John Sconce. To this union 4 children were born, Hazel Knuckles, Maxine Camden, and David Pogue, all of Eminence, Mo. and Calvin Pogue of Rolla, Mo., 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Alma, both his parents, 2 grandchildren, 13 brothers and sisters, 8 half-brothers and sisters. Arthur was the last survivor of this immediate family. Arthur leaves a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him very much. Arthur was a devoted husband and father. He was well known and liked by all. He loved helping others. He was patient and kind to everyone. The Second Commandment - "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Arthur was laid to rest at Bethany Chapel Cemetery, March 6, 1982.
