Mary grew up in the Winona area and graduated from Winona High School in 1954. Mary professed her faith at an early age and was baptized. She was a member of the Winona First Baptist Church. Mary loved all of her family and was excited at the chance to go to family reunions and get-togethers. She loved going to the beauty shop and getting her hair fixed on a weekly basis. She loved to tease you if you were bigger than her, but you never heard anything if she was bigger than you. At an especially hard time in her life, she was treated by Dr. Markel. He took her under his wing and began working with her. He put her to work at Doctors Hospital in Poplar Bluff in Central Supply where she ran the sterilizer for the surgery equipment. She worked for a very long time period until her health wouldn't let her work anymore. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Tuesday May 6, 2009, at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona with Rev. Glen Hampton officiating. Interment was in Munsell Cemetery at Eminence, Mo. under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Winona.
