James Cecil Chilton was born March 19, 1941 in Eminence, MO to Ishmael and Hazel (Jones) Chilton. Jim as he was known to his friends passed away, at his home in Eminence on December, 12, 2009, after a long hard struggle against several health problems. Jim was 68 years old and loved by his family and friends. Jim graduated from Eminence High school in 1959. He was united in marriage to Jane Borders on July 12, 1980 at the Eminence First Baptist Church. To this union three children were born. He is survived by his wife Jane, Jamie Chilton of the home, Jade Bressler and husband Bruce Bressler of Eminence, and Jalynn Newkirk and husband Adam Newkirk of Bonne Terre, MO, his sister Barbara Bressler and husband Andy Bressler of Eminence, Jerry Chilton and wife Vinita of Eminence. He leaves one sister-in-law Maureen Chilton of Winona and one brother-in-law Roger Korte of Pilot Grove, MO. There were many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and three glorious grandchildren, Carter, Katie, and Drew Bressler all of Eminence.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ishmael and Hazel Chilton of Eminence, brother Bill Chilton of Winona, sister Shirley Korte of Pilot Grove, MO, and nephew Patrick Chilton also of Eminence.
Jim served his country in the army from December 1963 till December 1965. The last four months were spent in Vietnam from August 16, 1965 to December 12, 1965, which he still carried the emotional scars. He became a disabled American Veteran in April of 2000. He never talked much about his time in Vietnam; the scars were too deep and had been buried too long. He was however a victim of Agent Orange.
Jim worked 28 years for MODOT, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eminence and loved his Lord dearly.
His favorite pastime was hunting with his son, son-in-law, brother and many good friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence, MO with Rev. Sam Upton officiating. Interment was in Munsell Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes, LLC of Eminence, MO.
