William Jones Barnes (1850-1929), was the son of Samuel D. Barnes (b: 1825, Monroe Co., KY.; d in Civil War, 1862-1863, supposedly in Gratiot Prison) and Mary Adaline Scott (b: ca. 1828; d: 1868, possibly Jan. 1st).
 
Samuel D. Barnes and Martin Alexander Barnes were brothers. After the early death of Samuel and wife, Martin provided their children with a home.
